Show Information

Sesame Street Live! began in 1980 as a touring arena and theater production based on the long-running PBS children's television series Sesame Street, produced by Sesame Workshop, formerly Children's Television Workshop. The live touring franchise has been produced under license from Sesame Workshop, with VEE Corporation historically producing and touring the show for decades and VStar Entertainment Group producing more recent touring editions.

The production is a touring children's musical stage show featuring full-size walk-around Muppet costume characters, bright scenic design inspired by the Sesame Street neighborhood, live musical numbers, and audience-participation segments. Current and recent productions include Elmo's Got the Moves and Say Hello, with the tour playing arenas and theaters across North America. Most editions run approximately 60–90 minutes and typically include one intermission.

Sesame Street Live! is among the longest-running children's live stage franchises, with new editions produced regularly since its 1980 launch. Over more than four decades, the franchise has toured North America and internationally, performing for millions of families and introducing generations of children to live theater through familiar characters, upbeat songs, and gentle, welcoming stories.

Story Summary

Sesame Street Live! is set in the colorful neighborhood world of Sesame Street, where Elmo and his friends sing, dance, explore, and learn together. Each edition follows a simple, upbeat storyline built around characters young audiences already recognize, with themes of friendship, kindness, imagination, movement, learning, and community at the center.

Recent editions give that familiar world a fresh focus. Elmo's Got the Moves encourages kids to get out of their seats and move along through dancing, jumping, stretching, and playful physical activity. Say Hello focuses on welcoming new friends and exploring the neighborhood, creating a warm stage experience where children can connect with the characters through music and participation.

No prior familiarity with the television series is required. Sesame Street Live! stands on its own for even very young first-time theatergoers, while children who already know Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird, Grover, and their friends get the added fun of seeing those characters come to life right in front of them.

Sesame Street Live! Seating Guide

Sesame Street Live! plays touring arenas and theaters in cities across North America, so seating layouts can vary by venue. Where you sit shapes the experience, especially for young children who may respond most strongly to seeing the characters clearly and feeling close to the action.

Best Seats for Sesame Street Live!

The best seats depend on your family's priorities, from up-close character views to easy movement in and out of the row.

• Best value: Upper-level sections — these seats often provide a clear view of the full stage and colorful scenic design while keeping the outing budget-friendly.
• Closest to the performance: Front floor sections — these seats put children closest to Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird, Grover, and the rest of the cast, creating a more immersive experience.
• Best overall experience: Lower-bowl sections — these seats usually offer a strong balance of stage visibility, comfortable distance, and broad views of the full production.
• For families with young children: Look for sections with aisle access when possible. Since most editions run approximately 60–90 minutes and typically include an intermission, aisle-friendly seating can make the experience easier for bathroom breaks, snacks, and settling young children.
• For groups: Coordinate contiguous seats early, since blocks of seats in popular lower-bowl and floor sections can sell through quickly.

Can I See Where My Seats Are?

Yes. The interactive seat map on BoxOfficeTicketSales.com shows your exact section and row placement before you buy. Use it to understand your angle to the stage, your distance from the front, and whether you're in the floor, lower bowl, or upper levels — so the seats you choose match exactly what you're looking for on show night.

Getting Ready for Show Night

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation makes the full experience run smoothly from arrival through the final bow.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Cell service around the venue can be congested on busy performance days. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before heading out so you're ready at the door without needing a signal.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard at most venues. A portable battery pack is worth having, especially if you're combining the show with meals, travel, or other family activities.
• Arrive at least 30 minutes before showtime. Venue doors open well before the show begins; arriving early gives you time to find your seats and settle in before the house lights go down — and avoids the disruption of late seating, which many theaters restrict.
• Plan for the intermission. Most Sesame Street Live! editions include one intermission, and lines for concessions and restrooms can build immediately after the act break.
• Know the venue's phone and photography policy. Flash photography and professional recording equipment are commonly restricted at Sesame Street Live! performances, while family-friendly photo moments may be part of the experience depending on the tour stop.
• For families. Sesame Street Live! is designed for children ages 1 to 7 and crafted to be enjoyable for the whole family, with a gentle, welcoming style for very young children.
