About New York City FC

New York City FC are a Major League Soccer (MLS) club based in New York, competing in the Eastern Conference. Founded in 2013 and beginning play in 2015, NYCFC reached the top of the league with 1 MLS Cup championship (2021), defeating the Portland Timbers in a penalty shootout. The club’s story includes marquee and title-era names like David Villa, Frank Lampard, Andrea Pirlo, and championship run pillars such as Maxi Moralez, Valentín Castellanos (“Taty”), and Sean Johnson.

NYCFC play home matches at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, a distinctive MLS environment where an iconic baseball venue is reconfigured for soccer. In soccer configuration, the stadium holds approximately 30,000 fans, and the setting delivers an urban, high-energy feel—especially when supporters’ sections ramp up the noise and tifo displays on match day.

In the Eastern Conference, NYCFC’s biggest demand-driver is the Hudson River Derby against the New York Red Bulls, one of MLS’s most intense regional rivalries. Other heated Eastern matchups include Toronto FC, Atlanta United FC, and the Philadelphia Union. If there's a specific rivalry game you're targeting, browsing New York City FC tickets early is the smartest move.

The right seat depends on what kind of match day experience you're after:

  • Best value: Upper-deck Grandstand and higher Terrace areas — a budget-friendly way to take in the atmosphere with an elevated view
  • Closest to the action: Field Level (lower bowl) seating — you’ll feel the pace of play up close
  • Best overall view: Midfield-equivalent sideline sections on the lower and main levels — strong sightlines where you can see plays develop across the pitch
  • For groups and premium experiences: Legends Suite, Delta Sky360 Suite-area premium clubs, and luxury suites — added comfort and a more private experience for hosting clients, friends, or family

If you’re organizing a group outing or targeting a high-demand rivalry, it’s smart to line up seats early so everyone can sit together.

  • Rideshare: Designated rideshare pickup/drop-off zones operate near the stadium on event days.
  • Bag Policy: Yankee Stadium enforces a strict bag policy with clear-bag guidelines, small clutch bags permitted, and larger bags/backpacks generally prohibited.
