This page covers everything you need — from understanding how the SEC Football Championship works to finding the right tickets and knowing what to expect when you arrive.

About SEC Football Championship

The SEC Football Championship Game is an annual winner-take-all college football title game that crowns the Southeastern Conference champion. Played in early December (traditionally the first Saturday in December) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, it has been a centerpiece of championship weekend since it was first held in 1992—and it’s widely viewed as one of the most consequential games on the college football calendar.

The format is straightforward and intense: one game between two teams, with the SEC Championship trophy on the line and overtime used if the score is tied. Historically (1992–2023), the matchup featured the winners of the SEC East and SEC West divisions; beginning in 2024, the conference’s top two teams by record qualify. With major postseason implications tied to conference championships and seeding, the stakes can feel like a playoff elimination game.

Over the years, the SEC Football Championship has featured dominant programs and defining moments—headlined by Alabama’s frequent appearances and success under Nick Saban, along with regular contention from Georgia, Florida, LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee. The game is staged in a domed/retractable-roof stadium for controlled conditions and a packed, electric atmosphere as fan bases from across the Southeast converge on downtown Atlanta. If you’re planning to attend SEC Football Championship, browsing tickets early is the smartest move.

How Much Do SEC Football Championship Tickets Cost?

SEC Football Championship tickets typically range from around $100–$150 for upper-level seats to $500–$1,000+ for premium lower-bowl and club seating, with premium packages running higher.

Pricing is most influenced by who’s playing and what’s on the line. Matchups that bring massive fan travel, bigger national stakes, and heightened championship momentum tend to drive demand—especially as you get closer to game day. Seat location matters too, with premium pricing commonly tied to sideline and midfield / the 50-yard line views.

No hidden fees. At Box Office Ticket Sales, the price you see is the price you pay. All fees are shown before checkout — no surprise charges when you reach the final step.

Getting Ready for SEC Football Championship Game Day

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation goes a long way — especially for a high-demand championship event in downtown Atlanta.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Cellular service near large events can get congested on game days. Save them to your phone's wallet or screenshot them as a backup.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is the standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having.
• Arrive early. Gates typically open approximately two hours before kickoff. Give yourself extra time for entry and security, especially on high-demand dates.
• Public Transit: MARTA rail and bus service are convenient options, with GWCC/CNN Center and Vine City stations within walking distance of the stadium.
• Rideshare: Designated rideshare pickup/drop-off zones are established around the stadium for Uber/Lyft.
• Bag Policy: A clear-bag policy is in effect — clear plastic bags up to 12" x 6" x 12" and small clutches are permitted; non-clear and oversized bags are prohibited.
• Bring a card or mobile payment — many vendors are cashless.
• What to bring: Your mobile ticket, a clear bag if you’re carrying items, and team gear. With the indoor, climate-controlled setting, heavy weather gear is unnecessary.
