About NJIT Women’s Basketball

NJIT Highlanders Women’s Basketball competes at the NCAA Division I level as a member of the America East Conference. The program moved up from NCAA Division II (where it began competing in 1997) and entered its Division I era in 2006. NJIT later competed as an independent, joined the Atlantic Sun Conference, and then became an America East member in 2020—giving the Highlanders an automatic-bid pathway to the NCAA Tournament through conference play.

On and off the court, NJIT has built an identity that pairs competitive growth with strong academics. The program has earned national recognition by being named to the WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaches Association) Division I Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. In a recent season, NJIT posted a 16–10 overall record and a 7–6 mark in America East play, matching the program’s win total in the NJIT Division I era.

Home games are played at the Wellness and Events Center (WEC) on NJIT’s campus in Newark, New Jersey. Opened in 2017, the WEC is a modern multi-purpose facility with recreation, fitness, and event spaces alongside the competition arena. With an approximate capacity of 3,500 and an on-campus setting, it creates an intimate Division I game-day environment where fans sit close to the court.

As an America East program, NJIT’s biggest demand drivers tend to come from conference matchups—especially against familiar opponents like UMBC, Maine, Albany, and Bryant. If there’s a specific rivalry game you’re targeting, browsing NJIT Highlanders Women's Basketball tickets early is the smartest move.
