About Mercyhurst Lakers Football

Mercyhurst Lakers Football represents Mercyhurst University at the NCAA Division I FCS level as a member of the Northeast Conference (NEC). After competing for most of its football history in NCAA Division II — primarily in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) — Mercyhurst transitioned to Division I and began NEC membership in Fall 2024. The move has brought new opponents, a higher competitive level, and added excitement around the program’s next chapter, including the Lakers’ first win as a Division I team: a 28–25 victory in August 2024 to open their FCS era.

Home games are played at Saxon Stadium on the Mercyhurst University campus in Erie, Pennsylvania. With an approximate capacity of 4,000, the setting is close to the field and built for a community- and student-driven crowd where every big stop and scoring drive feels personal.

• Closest to the action: Lower seating areas near the field — feel the pace up close from snap to whistle
• Best overall view: Seating near midfield along the main grandstand — strong sightlines near midfield (the 50-yard line) with plays developing across the field
• For groups and premium experiences: Explore available group-friendly options — locking in seats early is the best approach when you want everyone together
