Show Information

Spamilton, also known as Spamilton: An American Parody, premiered in July 2016 at The Triad Theater in New York City. The show was written and directed by Gerard Alessandrini, best known for creating the long-running Forbidden Broadway parody franchise. With Spamilton, Alessandrini applied that satirical revue style to a single mega-hit musical while also taking aim at Broadway culture at large.

The production is a musical comedy parody revue, performed with a small ensemble, minimalist staging, and piano accompaniment. It spoofs Hamilton through rewritten lyrics, impressions, character changes, and rapid-fire comedic sketches. Spamilton is currently presented through touring and regional engagements across U.S. venues, including performing-arts centers and regional theaters. The show runs approximately 80 minutes and is performed without an intermission.

Spamilton earned strong attention during its Off-Broadway run as a sharp, affectionate send-up of Hamilton and Broadway fame. It attracted high-profile attention, including a reported visit from Lin-Manuel Miranda, and expanded beyond its original New York engagement into productions in Chicago, Los Angeles, London, and national touring engagements. A cast recording was also released, helping extend the show’s reach beyond the stage.

Story Summary

Spamilton is a fast-paced musical revue built around parody songs, comedic sketches, and Broadway-insider satire. The show spoofs Hamilton’s style, momentum, and cultural impact while lampooning Lin-Manuel Miranda, musical theater celebrity, and the larger world of contemporary Broadway. A small ensemble drives the comedy through clever lyric rewrites, quick impressions, and tightly paced musical numbers.

The experience moves quickly from Hamilton-specific jokes into broader theater references, blending hip-hop pastiche with classic showtune humor. Along the way, Spamilton folds in impressions of Broadway figures and playful jabs at famous musicals, creating a compact revue that celebrates musical theater even as it teases its biggest personalities and trends.

The humor lands best for audiences familiar with Hamilton and Broadway culture, but Spamilton is built to entertain casual theatergoers as well. Its energetic format, vocal comedy, and clear comic targets make the show easy to follow, with the biggest laughs amplified by whatever theater knowledge you bring with you.

Show Highlights

Spamilton is built around quick, witty musical moments that parody Hamilton while widening the joke to Broadway itself.

• "Lin-Manuel as Hamilton" — This central running gag spoofs Lin-Manuel Miranda’s close association with his breakout creation and his determination to stay creatively everywhere at once. It anchors the show’s affectionate take on celebrity, ambition, and Broadway fame.
• "What Did You Miss?" — A parody of Hamilton’s “What’d I Miss?,” this number reworks the original for comic effect. It captures Spamilton’s approach: familiar musical energy redirected into sharp theatrical satire.
• "Celebrity Cameo Impressions" — Rapid-fire impersonations of Broadway legends and stars become comic set pieces throughout the revue. The impressions keep the pace lively while expanding the show beyond a single target.
• "Broadway Canon Medley" — This sequence takes playful jabs at other musicals including Gypsy, Chicago, The King and I, Camelot, and more. It broadens the satire into a wider celebration of theater history and show-business tradition.
• "Non-Stop" — This parody number sends up Hamilton’s relentless energy and the cultural mania surrounding the show. It turns the idea of constant creative momentum into a comic centerpiece.

Spamilton Seating Guide

Spamilton plays touring and regional theater venues, including performing-arts centers and regional theaters of varying sizes. Because the show relies on lyrics, facial expressions, impressions, and quick character shifts, where you sit can shape how closely you catch the details.

Best Seats for Spamilton

The best seats for Spamilton balance clear sightlines with strong sound and a close view of the ensemble’s comic timing.

• Best value: Upper mezzanine and rear orchestra sections — These seats often provide a clear full-stage view while keeping you close enough to follow the pacing, movement, and musical comedy.
• Closest to the stage: Front orchestra sections — Sitting close gives you the most immediate view of facial expressions, impressions, and quick costume or character changes.
• Best overall experience: Mid-orchestra and front mezzanine sections — These sections typically offer the strongest balance of proximity, sightline, and sound for a compact musical revue.
• For groups: Coordinate contiguous seats early, since blocks in popular orchestra and mezzanine sections can sell through quickly for touring and regional performances.

Can I See Where My Seats Are?

Yes. The interactive seat map on BoxOfficeTicketSales.com shows your exact section and row placement before you buy. Use it to understand your angle to the stage, your distance from the front, and whether you're in the orchestra, mezzanine, or balcony — so the seats you choose match exactly what you're looking for before the curtain rises.

Getting Ready for Show Night

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation makes the full experience run smoothly from arrival through the final bow.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Cell service around the venue can be congested on busy performance nights. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before heading out so you're ready at the door without needing a signal.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard at most theaters. A portable battery pack is worth having, especially if you're combining the show with dinner or other activities.
• Arrive at least 30 minutes before curtain. Most theater doors open well before the show begins; arriving early gives you time to find your seats and settle in before the house lights go down — and avoids the disruption of late seating, which many theaters restrict.
• Plan for an approximately 80-minute run with no intermission. Spamilton is performed straight through, so handle concessions and restroom stops before taking your seat, especially if you are attending with older teens.
• Know the venue's phone and photography policy. Audiences are asked not to photograph or record during the performance, and phones should be silenced before the show begins.
• For older teens and adults. Spamilton contains adult humor and comedic innuendo, and the jokes are especially rewarding for audiences who know Hamilton and Broadway culture.
