About the Trenton Thunder

The Trenton Thunder bring affordable, family-friendly baseball to Trenton, New Jersey, as a member of the MLB Draft League. Founded in 1994 (after relocating from London, Ontario), the Thunder have long been known for creating a lively, accessible ballpark experience—today showcasing draft-eligible college and amateur prospects in a developmental environment operated in partnership with Major League Baseball.

A centerpiece of the Thunder identity is their beloved “Bat Dogs” tradition—golden retrievers (including Chase That Golden Thunder and his successors) that retrieve bats during games. Add in promotional giveaways, between-innings entertainment, and popular fireworks nights (especially around July 4th weekend), and it’s easy to see why the franchise has drawn over 11 million fans across more than three decades.

The Thunder play at Trenton Thunder Ballpark, opened in 1994, in an intimate riverfront setting with a capacity of approximately 6,100–6,400. With close sightlines and a community-focused atmosphere, it’s a ballpark built for everything from casual outings to repeat summer traditions—and browsing Trenton Thunder tickets early is the smartest move for the most in-demand dates.
