About Fairleigh Dickinson Basketball

Fairleigh Dickinson’s men’s basketball program is a long-standing NCAA Division I member of the Northeast Conference (NEC), representing the Knights from the university’s Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck, New Jersey. The program earned national attention with a defining moment in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, when Fairleigh Dickinson—seeded No. 16—defeated No. 1 seed Purdue in the first round, becoming only the second No. 16 seed in NCAA Tournament history to beat a No. 1 seed. The Knights have made multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, largely through NEC automatic bids, supported by multiple NEC regular-season and/or tournament titles.

The Knights play home games at the Rothman Center (Rothman Center at the Metropolitan Campus), a multipurpose athletic facility that opened in 1987 and seats approximately 5,000 fans. The arena’s compact design creates a close-to-the-court feel that fits NEC basketball—great sightlines, quick energy swings, and a true home-court environment when the building gets loud.

Within the NEC and the broader New Jersey/New York metro college-basketball community, certain matchups can carry extra intensity. Rivalry and regional showdowns—especially against Saint Peter’s Peacocks, plus frequent conference battles with teams like the Wagner Seahawks and Central Connecticut State Blue Devils—can drive demand as the standings race tightens. If there’s a specific conference matchup you’re targeting, browsing Fairleigh Dickinson Knights Basketball tickets early is the smartest move.
