About Maryland Terrapins Basketball

Maryland Terrapins men’s basketball has been part of the NCAA Division I landscape since 1923, and the program’s modern legacy is anchored by a 2002 NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship. That title run — led by head coach Gary Williams and star guard Juan Dixon — capped a two-year stretch that also included Final Four appearances in 2001 and 2002. Across multiple eras, the Terps have produced standout talent and leaders like Len Bias, Joe Smith, and Lefty Driesell, building a tradition that still drives demand for Maryland Terrapins Basketball tickets.

On campus in College Park, Maryland, the Terps play at Xfinity Center, which opened in 2002 and seats approximately 17,950 fans. The building is known for its volume during marquee matchups, with a strong student presence and energetic pep-band support. The floor is named Gary Williams Court, honoring the Hall of Fame coach who guided Maryland to its national title.

Maryland now competes in the Big Ten Conference after joining in 2014, including a share of the Big Ten regular-season title in 2020. Rivalries and high-interest matchups can include historic series with Duke and North Carolina, regional battles with Georgetown, and Big Ten showdowns with opponents like Michigan State and Indiana. If there’s a specific rivalry game you’re targeting, browsing Maryland Terrapins Basketball tickets early is the smartest move.

Getting Ready for Maryland Terrapins Basketball Game Night

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation goes a long way — especially on big Big Ten nights when campus traffic and entry lines can build quickly.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Mobile service near Xfinity Center gets congested on game nights. Save them to your phone's wallet or screenshot them as a backup.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is the standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having.
• Arrive early. Gates/doors typically open approximately one hour before tip-off, and giving yourself extra time helps with parking, security, and getting to your seats.
• Public Transit. Xfinity Center is served by the University of Maryland Shuttle-UM system and is accessible via the Washington Metro area network; the College Park–University of Maryland Metro station (Green Line) connects to the campus.
• Rideshare. Designated rideshare pickup/drop-off zones are located near the arena on campus.
• Bag Policy. A clear-bag policy is in effect; small clutch bags are permitted, with size limits on larger bags and prohibitions on standard backpacks.
• Bring a card or mobile payment — Xfinity Center is cashless.
