About Elon Phoenix Basketball

Elon Phoenix Basketball competes at the NCAA Division I level in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). Elon athletics transitioned to Division I in 1999 and joined the CAA in 2014, with the Phoenix nickname adopted in 2000. In the Division I era, the program continues to chase conference tournament success, building its identity through regular-season progress and postseason runs within its league.

A key figure in Elon's modern era is former head coach Matt Matheny, who led the program from 2009–2019 and remains the longest-tenured coach of the Division I era, guiding Elon through its move to the CAA. Notable players from the Division I transition period include Luke Eddy, representing the program’s ongoing development of conference-level talent.

Elon plays at Schar Center in Elon, North Carolina. Opened in 2018, Schar Center is a modern multi-purpose convocation and athletics facility that hosts men’s and women’s basketball along with university events and concerts. With an approximate capacity of 5,100, it’s known for close sightlines and an energetic, close-knit feel powered by spirit groups, the pep band, and the student section in maroon and gold.

CAA matchups help shape Elon's ticket demand, including games against UNC Greensboro, College of Charleston, Hofstra, Towson, and William & Mary. If there’s a specific rivalry game you’re targeting, browsing Elon Phoenix Basketball tickets early is the smartest move.
