About Colgate Basketball
Colgate men’s basketball represents Colgate University in Hamilton, New York, competing at the NCAA Division I level in the Patriot League. Established in 1900 (with the first season played in 1900–01), the Raiders have built a long program history that includes multiple Patriot League regular-season and tournament titles and NCAA Tournament berths. Across the program’s modern highlights, notable figures include Adonal Foyle, Tucker Richardson, head coach Matt Langel, and former coach Jack Bruen.
In the Matt Langel era, Colgate has become a dominant force in the Patriot League, winning Patriot League Tournament championships in 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 and returning to the NCAA Tournament repeatedly. The 2021–22 team delivered one of the best seasons in program history, featuring a long winning streak and national statistical rankings in three-point shooting and field-goal percentage.
Home games are played at Cotterell Court (inside Reid Athletic Center), an intimate on-campus arena that opened in 1959. With an approximate capacity range of 1,750–3,000, the setting keeps fans close to the court and helps create a tight, energetic college-basketball atmosphere — especially with a student section positioned near the floor.
