About Virginia State Baseball

Virginia State University is a historically Black land-grant institution founded in 1882, and the Virginia State Trojans compete in NCAA Division II athletics under the Trojans nickname and Orange and Blue colors. Across most sports, Virginia State is closely associated with the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), a conference known for longstanding rivalries and strong HBCU athletic tradition, while the baseball program has competed as a Division II independent in recent seasons.

Virginia State’s home base is the Ettrick (Petersburg area), Virginia community, and Trojans baseball game days are a straightforward, fan-friendly way to catch college action up close. If you’re planning to attend as a student, alum, local fan, or visiting supporter, Virginia State Trojans tickets are the simplest way to lock in your spot for the matchup you want.

Rivalries are a major part of Virginia State’s athletic identity, highlighted by the in-state matchup with Virginia Union University—often referred to in the broader school rivalry context as the “Freedom Classic”/local rivalry with the Virginia Union Panthers. Within CIAA competition, other familiar opponents include Bowie State University and Fayetteville State University. If there’s a specific rivalry game you’re targeting, browsing Virginia State Trojans tickets early is the smartest move.

Getting Ready for Virginia State Trojans Game Day

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation goes a long way — especially for smooth entry and getting settled before the first pitch.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Mobile service near the Trojans’ home ballpark gets congested on game days. Save them to your phone's wallet or screenshot them as a backup.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is the standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having.
• Arrive early. Give yourself extra time for entry and security, especially on high-demand nights.
• Use public transit if you can — it's often faster than driving on game day.
• Plan your rideshare pickup point — post-game pickups near the Trojans’ home ballpark can take longer than expected.
• Check the bag policy before you go so there are no surprises at the entrance.
