About UTRGV Football

University of Texas Rio Grande Valley fields the Vaqueros as an NCAA Division I (FCS) program aligned with the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) for most sports. UTRGV was created in 2013 through the merger of UT-Brownsville and UT-Pan American, and the Vaqueros athletics brand began in 2015. The football program is a new FCS startup with an inaugural season targeted for fall 2025, giving fans a chance to be part of the foundation as the team’s identity takes shape.

UTRGV represents the Rio Grande Valley’s regional spirit through the Vaqueros name, orange-and-navy team colors (with gray accents), and a community-first feel that reflects the area’s bilingual, border-community culture. The program’s football traditions are in an early stage, but the draw is clear: live college football close to home, with the buzz of a new era for Vaqueros athletics.

As schedules and opponents solidify, high-interest matchups across the region are the kinds of games that can drive demand quickly. If you already have a specific date circled, browsing University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley Football tickets early is the smartest move.

Getting Ready for UTRGV Football Game Day

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation goes a long way — especially when you’re planning your timing for entry and want a smooth arrival on game day.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Mobile service near the stadium gets congested on game days. Save them to your phone's wallet or screenshot them as a backup.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is the standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having.
• Arrive early. Give yourself extra time for entry and security, especially on high-demand nights.
• Use public transit if you can — it's often faster than driving on game day.
• Plan your rideshare pickup point — post-game pickups near the stadium can take longer than expected.
• Check the bag policy before you go so there are no surprises at the entrance.
