About Texas Southern Tigers Football

Texas Southern Tigers Football competes in NCAA Division I FCS as a member of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) West Division, representing Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Across its history, Texas Southern has been recognized as part of the tradition of Black college football and has earned conference success in different eras within the SWAC.

A major piece of the program’s legacy is its pipeline to the pros, highlighted by Michael Strahan (Pro Football Hall of Fame defensive end) and Winston Hill (Pro Football Hall of Fame offensive tackle), both of whom played their college football at Texas Southern. That legacy, paired with the energy of SWAC football, is a big reason Texas Southern Tigers Football tickets are such a popular choice for fans who want an authentic HBCU game day.

On campus, the Tigers play at Alexander Durley Stadium in Houston. Opened in 1983 with a capacity of approximately 7,500, it creates an intimate setting where you’re close to the field and the atmosphere is driven by the crowd and the band. Texas Southern also participates in select classic-style events that can be held at larger Houston venues.

SWAC matchups can be high-demand, especially when Texas Southern faces familiar rivals like Prairie View A&M, Grambling State, Southern University, and Jackson State. If there’s a specific rivalry game you’re targeting, browsing Texas Southern Tigers Football tickets early is the smartest move.
