Hockey in downtown Saginaw has a distinct feel—an intimate arena bowl, a loud community crowd, and the kind of fast, up-close action that makes major junior hockey so fun to see live. Whether you’ve followed the team for years or you’re planning your first game, Saginaw Spirit tickets put you inside the energy at Dow Event Center.

This page covers everything you need — from choosing the right seats at Dow Event Center to knowing what to expect when you arrive on game night.

About the Saginaw Spirit

The Saginaw Spirit bring affordable, family-friendly major junior hockey to Saginaw, Michigan as members of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL)—one of the three leagues under the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) umbrella. Founded in 2002 (relocated from North Bay, Ontario, where the franchise played as the North Bay Centennials), the Spirit are a key part of the community and a true pipeline for elite young talent. As hosts, Saginaw captured the 2024 Memorial Cup, a defining achievement for the franchise.

Spirit home games are played at Dow Event Center (Ryder Center arena bowl) in downtown Saginaw. With an approximate hockey capacity of 5,500, it’s a close-in environment where you can feel the speed of play and hear the game develop across the ice. The venue originally opened in 1972 as the Saginaw Civic Center and has been renovated and renamed over the years, while continuing to serve as a multi-purpose downtown destination for concerts and events.

Major junior hockey is built around player development, and the Spirit have produced over 40 players who have appeared in at least one NHL game. Game nights also lean into local traditions, including the long-running Teddy Bear Toss during the holiday season—fans throw stuffed animals onto the ice after the first Spirit goal for donation to local charities. For high-demand matchups and big promotional nights, browsing Saginaw Spirit tickets early is the smartest move.

Getting Ready for Saginaw Spirit Game Night

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation goes a long way — especially at a downtown arena where arrival timing and parking can shape the start of your night.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Mobile service near Dow Event Center gets congested on game nights. Save them to your phone's wallet or screenshot them as a backup.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is the standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having.
• Arrive early. Doors typically open approximately one hour before puck drop.
• Public Transit: Use public transit if you can — it’s often faster than driving on game night.
• Plan parking ahead of time. On-site and nearby downtown parking lots and street parking are available near the venue.
• Rideshare: Plan your rideshare pickup point — post-game pickups near Dow Event Center can take longer than expected.
• Check the bag policy before you go so there are no surprises at the entrance.
