About Rhode Island Football

Rhode Island football dates back to 1895 and competes in NCAA Division I FCS as a member of CAA Football. The Rams’ history includes a shared Yankee Conference title in 1985, and the program reached a modern milestone by making the FCS Playoffs in 2023. Notable names connected to the program include Will Blackmon, Tom Ehrhardt, and Stephen Morris, highlighting URI’s tradition of productive playmakers and quarterbacks over the years.

On Saturdays in Kingston, Meade Stadium is the home of Rhode Island Rams football. Opened in 1927 and with an approximate capacity of 6,500, it’s one of the older continuously used college football stadiums in New England. The setup creates an up-close atmosphere where the crowd energy feels connected to every snap.

URI’s schedule features regional matchups that can bring added intensity — including rivalries with the Brown Bears, Connecticut Huskies, New Hampshire Wildcats, and Maine Black Bears. If there’s a specific rivalry game you’re targeting, browsing Rhode Island Rams Football tickets early is the smartest move.

The right seat depends on what kind of game day experience you're after:

• Closest to the action: Main grandstand sideline seating — stay near the field and feel each series develop up close
• Best overall view: Midfield grandstand sections along the main sideline, especially near midfield / the 50-yard line — strong sightlines as plays develop across the field

Getting Ready for Rhode Island Rams Football Game Day

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation goes a long way — especially in a campus setting where parking, entry, and pregame routines can pick up quickly near kickoff.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Mobile service near Meade Stadium gets congested on game days. Save them to your phone's wallet or screenshot them as a backup.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is the standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having.
• Arrive early. Give yourself extra time for entry and security, especially on high-demand nights.
• Use public transit if you can — it's often faster than driving on game day. RIPTA bus service connects the Kingston area, and the URI campus is near the Kingston MBTA/Amtrak rail station.
• Plan your rideshare pickup point — post-game pickups near Meade Stadium can take longer than expected. Rideshare drop-off and pickup are accommodated near campus entrances.
• Check the bag policy before you go so there are no surprises at the entrance. Clear-bag policies are standard at many college football venues.
• Plan your parking approach. On-campus and lot parking is available on game days at URI’s Kingston campus.
