About Long Island University Sharks Football

Long Island University Sharks football is an NCAA Division I FCS program competing in the Northeast Conference (NEC). The LIU Sharks football era began in 2019 as LIU unified its athletics under the single “LIU Sharks” Division I banner, bringing the program into FCS competition and building a new identity in the conference.

A key figure in the program’s modern foundation is Bryan Collins, the longtime LIU Post head coach who built the Division II Pioneers into a national power and helped guide the transition into the early Division I period. Today, the Sharks continue developing their presence in the NEC as the program works toward conference contention.

LIU plays home games at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium on the LIU Post campus in Brookville, New York. With an approximately 3,000–4,000 capacity, the setting delivers an up-close college football experience where fans can feel the momentum swings and sideline emotion that define game day.

In the NEC, LIU’s most natural rivalries are regional and conference-based, including matchups against the Sacred Heart University Pioneers, the Wagner College Seahawks, and the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devils. Wagner, located in the New York City metro area (Staten Island), stands out as a particularly strong geographic rival—so if there’s a specific conference matchup you’re targeting, browsing Long Island University Sharks Football tickets early is the smartest move.
