About Indiana State Sycamores Football

Indiana State Sycamores football traces its roots back to 1884 and competes at the NCAA Division I FCS level in the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC). A signature moment in program history is the Sycamores’ 1984 NCAA Division I-AA (FCS) playoff appearance. Among the program’s notable figures is Vincent Allen, a standout running back in the 1970s who went on to play in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings.

Sycamore home games are played at Memorial Stadium in Terre Haute, Indiana. Opened in 1970 with an approximate capacity of 12,000, it’s an on-campus venue that creates a close-to-the-field feel and a community-forward atmosphere. On game day, fans show out in royal blue and white, with support from the Marching Sycamores band and the presence of Sycamore Sam adding to the traditional college football vibe.
