About Scharbauer Sports Complex

Scharbauer Sports Complex opened in 2002 and is owned by the City of Midland. Located at 5514 Champions Drive in Midland, Texas, the complex brings together two major sports venues on one site: Momentum Bank Ballpark, which seats approximately 5,000 for baseball, and Grande Communications Stadium, which seats approximately 15,000 for football and soccer. The campus sits on the southwest side of Midland near State Highway 191, making it a driving-focused destination with large shared surface parking areas.

The complex is the premier sports venue campus in the Midland–Odessa region of West Texas. It is home to the Midland RockHounds, the Double-A Minor League Baseball club in the Texas League, and it also hosts high school football, soccer, area championship events, tournaments, and community athletic events. Baseball season typically runs from spring through late summer, while football and soccer events are concentrated in late summer through fall.

Location & Transportation

Scharbauer Sports Complex is located at 5514 Champions Drive, Midland, TX 79706 — on the southwest side of Midland near State Highway 191.

Driving and Parking: Scharbauer Sports Complex is effectively car-access focused, with straightforward driving access from the Champions Drive area near State Highway 191. On-site surface parking accommodates roughly 3,500 vehicles across the shared complex. For marquee football nights, championship events, and larger games, arriving early is advisable because the lots fill ahead of kickoff or first pitch.

Transit: Public transit options are very limited in the Midland area, so most guests drive, use rideshare, or stay nearby and travel by car.

Rideshare: Rideshare drop-off and pickup are available at the complex. After large events, waits can be longer because the venue sits away from the city center and crowds exit the shared parking areas at the same time.

Nearby Accommodation: Hotels are concentrated along the State Highway 191 corridor between Midland and Odessa and near Midland International Air & Space Port. Additional lodging is available in central Midland for visitors who want broader dining and city access before or after the event.

Venue Navigation

Scharbauer Sports Complex is a shared sports campus with two separate stadiums, so understanding the layout before arrival helps you move from parking to the right gate more smoothly. Momentum Bank Ballpark and Grande Communications Stadium each have their own entry points, seating areas, and event-day flow.

Entrances and Access: Each stadium has its own main entry gates, and guests enter from the shared parking areas off Champions Drive. The event listing and ticket identify the stadium for your game or event, so checking that detail before you leave helps you head directly toward the correct set of gates.

Seating Levels: Momentum Bank Ballpark has a traditional single-bowl layout with lower seating and a concourse, including infield and outfield sections plus lawn or berm areas for some events. Grande Communications Stadium has sideline grandstand seating on both sides of the field.

Accessibility: Accessible parking and accessible seating are available at both stadiums within Scharbauer Sports Complex.

Getting to Your Section: Signage and event staff direct guests from the gates to seating sections. The walk from parking to the stadium seating areas is on level, paved ground, making navigation straightforward for most visitors.

Dining Options

Inside Scharbauer Sports Complex

Concessions at Scharbauer Sports Complex offer standard ballpark and stadium fare, including hot dogs, nachos, burgers, snacks, and soft drinks. Beer and alcohol are available at RockHounds games. For larger crowds, heading to concessions before peak pregame rushes or between innings can help reduce time in line.

Outside the Venue — Midland

Dining near Scharbauer Sports Complex is clustered along the State Highway 191 corridor and in central Midland, both a short drive from the complex. Guests driving in for baseball, football, soccer, or tournament events can find a mix of chain and local dining options before heading to Champions Drive.

Security & Policies

Scharbauer Sports Complex maintains security and venue policies that are updated regularly and may vary by event. Before attending, reviewing the current policy on the venue's official website is strongly recommended.

Bag Policy: Bag restrictions typically apply at Scharbauer Sports Complex, with clear-bag or limited-size bag policies common for larger events. Requirements can vary by event, so packing light and using a compliant bag helps entry move faster.

Commonly Prohibited Items: Weapons, outside food and beverages, and other items restricted by venue policy are generally not permitted. Larger games and championship events can involve stricter screening and item review.

Entry Procedures: Bag checks and ticket scanning are standard at the gates, and guests should expect screening for larger events. Arriving with tickets pre-downloaded and a compliant bag speeds up the entry process.

How Much Do Tickets to Scharbauer Sports Complex Cost?

Scharbauer Sports Complex ticket prices vary significantly depending on the type of event, the team or matchup, seating section, and demand — which is what you'd expect from a venue that hosts everything from community athletic events to Texas League playoff baseball and area championship football and soccer.

For Midland RockHounds baseball games, entry-level tickets are typically low, often starting around $10–$15 for general admission or lawn seating. Reserved seats can cost modestly more, with seat location, opponent, promotional nights, giveaways, and playoff games influencing demand.

For high school football, soccer, and similar sporting events, tickets are also typically low, commonly around $5–$15 depending on the event. Area championship games and marquee matchups can draw larger crowds, which can make early seat selection more valuable.

Premium and group seating at the ballpark is higher and varies by package. Suites and group or party areas are often chosen for outings, celebrations, and hosted event experiences where service, space, and seating together matter.

Buying earlier generally secures better seat selection for marquee games and championship events. As inventory shrinks and the date approaches, the best remaining seats can become harder to find, especially for playoff baseball, high-demand football games, and area championship events.

Getting Ready for Your Scharbauer Sports Complex Event

Once your tickets are confirmed, a few practical preparations make your visit run significantly smoother — especially at an open-air sports complex with shared parking and separate stadium gates.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before departing so you're ready at the gate without needing a signal.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having for a full evening.
• Arrive early. Arrive early for large football and championship events, as parking lots fill ahead of kickoff or first pitch.
• Wear the right footwear. Surfaces throughout the complex are level and paved, so standard footwear is fine for walking from parking areas to the gates and seating areas.
• Dress in layers. Both stadiums are open-air, so expect West Texas heat and sun for daytime and early-season events, plus cooler evenings in fall. Bring sun protection and layers accordingly.
• Build extra time into your transit plan. Larger games and championship events can create heavier parking demand before the event and longer exit times afterward.
• Know your entrance. Scharbauer Sports Complex has two separate stadiums with their own gates, and your event listing or ticket will point you to the stadium hosting your game or event.
• Check the bag policy in advance. Reviewing the venue's guidelines before packing prevents delays at security.
