About Lohrey Stage At Theatre Memphis

Lohrey Stage At Theatre Memphis is the main performance space inside Theatre Memphis, a nonprofit community theater organization located at 630 Perkins Extd in Memphis, Tennessee. Theatre Memphis has operated as a community theater organization since 1920, and its Perkins Extended facility has served as its home for decades. The Lohrey Stage, also known as the Lohrey Theatre, seats approximately 400 guests in its main auditorium.

The venue is the larger of two performance spaces at the Theatre Memphis complex, giving the organization room to stage its biggest and most ambitious productions while the more intimate Next Stage supports smaller works. The Lohrey Stage hosts full-scale musicals and plays across a programmed theater season, including Broadway-style musicals, dramas, comedies, and holiday productions that often run over multi-weekend engagements.

Theatre Memphis is one of the oldest and most established community theaters in the United States, and the Lohrey Stage is known as its flagship mainstage for large-scale productions.

Transit: Public transit service in this part of East Memphis is limited, so most guests plan around driving, rideshare, or a short hotel-to-venue trip by car.

Rideshare: Rideshare drop-off and pickup are practical at the theater complex because of its dedicated lot access and car-oriented layout. After the performance, building in a little extra time can help with post-show pickup traffic.

Nearby Accommodation: East Memphis offers numerous hotels along the Poplar Avenue corridor and near the I-240 interchange, placing visitors within a short drive of the theater.

Seating Levels: The Lohrey Stage is a fixed-seat auditorium oriented toward a proscenium stage. Seating is arranged on a sloped floor, giving the room a traditional theater layout with sightlines directed toward the stage.

Getting to Your Section: Ushers and house staff direct patrons to their seats, and signage inside the shared complex helps distinguish the Lohrey Theatre from the Next Stage. Arriving before curtain gives you time to park, enter, find your row, and settle in before the performance begins.
