About SMU Men’s Soccer

SMU men’s soccer is one of the most successful programs in NCAA Division I history, with more than 35 NCAA Tournament appearances and multiple College Cup (NCAA semifinals) runs. Now competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) as of the 2024 season, the Mustangs have built a long tradition of postseason relevance dating back decades, along with multiple conference championships across Conference USA and the American Athletic Conference (AAC).

The program’s legacy includes legendary leadership such as Schellas Hyndman, who led SMU for over two decades and compiled one of the winningest records in NCAA men’s soccer history before becoming head coach of FC Dallas (MLS). Head coach Kevin Hudson guided the Mustangs to a standout 2017 campaign, winning both the AAC regular season title and the AAC tournament title, and the program has continued to produce a steady pipeline of professional players into MLS and international soccer.
