About Legendary Room at The Ice House

Legendary Room at The Ice House is the primary showroom inside The Ice House Comedy Club at 24 N Mentor Ave in Pasadena, California. The Ice House opened in 1960 under Pasadena businessman Willard Chilcott, beginning as a folk-music room before becoming a Southern California stand-up comedy institution. The Legendary Room typically holds approximately 150 to 200 guests for comedy shows, with the exact count varying by seating configuration.

The venue specializes in stand-up comedy, including headliner shows, showcase and ensemble nights such as Cool Beans Comedy, themed and special events, and recurring programming at the club. The wider Ice House complex also includes the California Room, a covered patio area, a photo booth area, a bar beside the patio, and a wall commemorating performers associated with the club. Its reputation is rooted in decades of comedy history and its role as a storied proving ground for comedians.

The Legendary Room is known for close, seated comedy-showroom sightlines and a classic club atmosphere that keeps performers and audiences connected throughout the show.

Dining Options

Inside Legendary Room at The Ice House

Full bar service is available at The Ice House, with a bar located beside the patio area. Because comedy shows often draw concentrated arrivals before doors and showtime, building in extra time for drinks before the performance can make the start of the night easier.

Outside the Venue — Pasadena's Playhouse District

The venue sits in Pasadena's Playhouse District, where numerous restaurants and bars are nearby. Old Pasadena and the Colorado Boulevard dining scene are a short distance away, giving guests plenty of options for dinner, drinks, or dessert before or after a show.

Security & Policies

Legendary Room at The Ice House maintains security and venue policies that are updated regularly and may vary by event. Before attending, reviewing the current policy on the venue's official website is strongly recommended.

Entry Procedures: Doors typically open ahead of show start, with some listings using schedules such as doors at 4 p.m. for a 5 p.m. show. Guests should expect digital or printed ticket verification at entry. Some comedy-club listings include minimum-age or item-minimum notes on the event page, so reviewing the event details before arrival helps avoid delays.

How Much Do Tickets to Legendary Room at The Ice House Cost?

Legendary Room at The Ice House ticket prices vary significantly depending on the type of event, the performer or headliner, seating section, and demand — which is what you'd expect from a venue that hosts everything from showcase comedy nights to headliner and special events.

For stand-up comedy showcase and ensemble nights, tickets are often in the approximately $15–$30 range. These events can be a strong-value way to experience the room, especially when the lineup includes multiple comics or recurring programming.

For headliner shows and special events, tickets are commonly around $25–$50 or more. Demand can rise for better-known performers, themed events, weekend dates, and shows in high-demand time slots. Some recurring events may be free.

Because the Legendary Room is intimate, popular headliner shows can sell out. Buying earlier generally secures better seating options and stronger availability; as inventory shrinks and the date approaches, the best remaining seats become harder to find.
