Show Information

Hofesh Shechter Company was founded in 2008 in London, United Kingdom, as an original contemporary dance company led by Hofesh Shechter. Shechter is a German-born, Israeli-British choreographer, dancer, and composer based in London, and he typically creates both the choreography and the original musical scores for the company's works. Before establishing his own company, he graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and performed with the renowned Batsheva Dance Company in Israel.

The company presents contemporary dance works with a distinctive physical, visceral, folk- and rhythm-driven movement language. Programs vary by engagement, with major repertory works including "Political Mother," "Sun," "Grand Finale," "Double Murder," "Contemporary Dance 2.0," "Theatre of Dreams," and "The Fix." Performance length is generally around 60–90 minutes depending on the program, and intermission arrangements vary, with many single works performed straight through.

Hofesh Shechter Company tours internationally, appearing at major theatres, dance venues, and festivals across the UK, Europe, North America, and worldwide. Shechter has received honors including an Olivier Award nomination, and he has been appointed an Associate Artist of Sadler's Wells Theatre in London. The company has also expanded its impact through Shechter II, a junior/apprentice company dedicated to nurturing the next generation of dancers and performing Shechter's work.

Hofesh Shechter Company Seating Guide

Hofesh Shechter Company tours to theatres and dance venues of varying sizes across international markets. Where you sit shapes how you experience the company's grounded movement, live musicianship, atmospheric lighting, and large-ensemble stage pictures.

Best Seats for Hofesh Shechter Company

The best seats for Hofesh Shechter Company balance proximity to the dancers with a full view of the ensemble, lighting, and stage design.

• Best value: upper mezzanine or rear orchestra sections — These seats often provide a clear overall view of formations, group unison, and shifting stage pictures while keeping the performance within comfortable visual range.
• Closest to the stage: front orchestra sections — Sitting close brings you nearer to the dancers' physical intensity, the force of the movement, and the presence of live musicians when they are part of the program.
• Best overall experience: mid-orchestra or front mezzanine sections — These areas typically offer the strongest balance of detail and perspective, making them a favorite choice for audiences who want both immersion and a full-stage view.
• For groups: coordinate contiguous seats early, since blocks in popular orchestra and mezzanine sections can sell through quickly for major touring engagements.

Getting Ready for Show Night

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation makes the full experience run smoothly from arrival through the final bow.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Cell service around the venue can be congested on busy performance nights. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before heading out so you're ready at the door without needing a signal.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard at most theaters. A portable battery pack is worth having, especially if you're combining the show with dinner or other activities.
• Arrive at least 30 minutes before curtain. Venue doors open well before the show begins; arriving early gives you time to find your seats and settle in before the house lights go down — and avoids the disruption of late seating, which many theaters restrict.
• Plan for a 60–90 minute program that may run with no intermission. Many single Hofesh Shechter Company works are performed without an intermission, so plan ahead for restrooms, concessions, and any needs before the performance begins.
• Know the venue's phone and photography policy. Audiences are typically asked not to photograph or record during performances, and silencing phones helps preserve the immersive sound and lighting environment.
• Prepare for intensity. Performances often feature loud, percussive live music, intense strobe and atmospheric lighting, and high physical energy, making them generally suited to older children, teens, and adults.
