About SMU Basketball

SMU men’s basketball traces its roots back to around 1916 and competes at the NCAA Division I level as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The program’s history includes a standout peak in 1956, when SMU reached the NCAA Final Four under legendary head coach Doc Hayes. Across multiple conference homes—including the Southwest Conference, Western Athletic Conference, Conference USA, and the American Athletic Conference—the Mustangs have collected multiple conference regular-season and tournament titles. Notable figures connected to the program include Jim Krebs, Gene Phillips, Jon Koncak, and Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown, with Nic Moore also standing out as an AAC Player of the Year during Brown’s era.

SMU plays at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas, an on-campus arena that opened in 1956 and underwent a major renovation completed in 2013. With an approximate capacity of 7,000, the building’s relatively compact size helps create an intimate, loud environment—especially when high-profile opponents come to town. The renovation modernized seating, premium areas, and amenities while keeping the close-to-the-court feel that makes college basketball at Moody so engaging.

Rivalry matchups add extra juice to the schedule, led by longtime regional rival TCU—a series rooted in Southwest Conference history and the shared Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. SMU also built competitive AAC-era rivalries with Houston, Memphis, and Cincinnati. If there’s a specific rivalry game you’re targeting, browsing Southern Methodist (SMU) Mustangs Basketball tickets early is the smartest move.

How Much Do Southern Methodist (SMU) Mustangs Basketball Tickets Cost?

Southern Methodist (SMU) Mustangs Basketball tickets typically range from around $10 to $30 for upper-level and general seating to $75–$200+ or more for lower-bowl and premium/courtside seats for marquee ACC matchups, with suites and hospitality packages running higher.

Pricing moves most when the opponent and calendar align—high-profile ACC visitors such as Duke or North Carolina, the day of the week, overall demand, and the team’s record/standings can all influence what you’ll see on the market. For value, compare different dates on the schedule and consider matchups with lower demand where upper-level seats can be a strong buy.

No hidden fees. At Box Office Ticket Sales, the price you see is the price you pay. All fees are shown before checkout — no surprise charges when you reach the final step.

Best Seats for Southern Methodist (SMU) Mustangs Basketball Games

  • Closest to the action: Lower seating area surrounding the court — feel the pace up close and stay connected to every possession
  • Best overall view: Center-court sideline sections in the lower bowl near courtside — balanced sightlines that help you track plays developing across the court
  • For groups and premium experiences: Courtside and lower-level sideline seating plus premium/club areas — added comfort and a great fit for entertaining clients, celebrating milestones, or organizing a group night out

Getting Ready for SMU Game Night

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation goes a long way — especially at an on-campus arena where pregame arrival, parking, and entry timing can shape your whole night.

  • Download your tickets before you leave. Mobile service near Moody Coliseum gets congested on game nights. Save them to your phone's wallet or screenshot them as a backup.
  • Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is the standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having.
  • Arrive early. Doors typically open approximately one hour before tip-off. Give yourself extra time for entry and security, especially on high-demand nights.
  • Public Transit: Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) serves the area, and Mockingbird Station on DART light rail is near the SMU campus.
  • Parking: On-campus and nearby lots are available for game-day parking near Moody Coliseum.
  • Rideshare: Rideshare drop-off and pickup are accommodated near campus entrances to Moody Coliseum.
  • Bag Policy: SMU athletics enforces a clear-bag policy consistent with venue security standards; small clutch bags are typically permitted, with prohibited items including large bags and outside items.
  • Payment/Cashless: Bring a card or mobile payment — Moody Coliseum is cashless.
  • Re-entry: Re-entry is generally not permitted — plan to stay once you're inside.
