About Northern Arizona Lumberjacks Football

Northern Arizona Lumberjacks Football competes in NCAA Division I at the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level as a member of the Big Sky Conference. The program has a long history, with roots dating back to 1899, and it has won multiple Big Sky Conference championships across its history while making several NCAA FCS (Division I-AA) playoff appearances.

On fall Saturdays, the Lumberjacks play at Walkup Skydome (J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome) in Flagstaff, Arizona. Opened in 1977, the venue seats approximately 10,000+ for football and stands out as one of the few domed stadiums in FCS football. The indoor setting creates a controlled environment in Flagstaff’s high elevation (roughly 7,000 feet) and helps amplify sound for a true home-field feel.

• Best value: End-zone and upper corner sections — a budget-friendly way to take in the full venue atmosphere
• Closest to the action: Lower-level sideline and end-zone sections — feel the pace of the game up close
• Best overall view: Midfield sideline sections near midfield / the 50-yard line — strong sightlines as plays develop across the field
• For groups and premium experiences: Focus on blocks of seats together in the bowl — ideal for families, alumni groups, and larger game day outings

Getting Ready for Northern Arizona Lumberjacks Football Game Day

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation goes a long way — especially with game day traffic and entry timing around a campus stadium.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Mobile service near Walkup Skydome gets congested on game days. Save them to your phone's wallet or screenshot them as a backup.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is the standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having.
• Arrive early. Gates typically open approximately one to two hours before kickoff, so give yourself extra time for entry and security—especially for high-demand games.
• Public Transit: Flagstaff's Mountain Line transit system serves the NAU campus area, with routes near campus venues.
• Plan parking ahead. On-campus lots near the Walkup Skydome are used for event parking on game day.
• Rideshare: Rideshare drop-off and pickup are available near campus venue access points. Plan your pickup spot so you’re not circling after the final whistle.
• Bag policy: NAU athletics venues generally follow a clear-bag policy consistent with NCAA game-day standards, restricting large bags and prohibited items; small clutch bags are typically permitted.
• Bring a card or mobile payment — Walkup Skydome is cashless.
• Re-entry is generally not permitted — plan to stay once you're inside.
