About the Iowa Barnstormers

The Iowa Barnstormers bring family-friendly indoor football to Des Moines as members of the Indoor Football League (IFL). The franchise has roots that trace back to an original Arena Football League team founded in 1994, with the current IFL franchise established in 2008. The Barnstormers are also known as the launching point of quarterback Kurt Warner’s career before his NFL stardom.

The Barnstormers play at Wells Fargo Arena, part of the Iowa Events Center in downtown Des Moines. Opened in 2005, the modern multipurpose arena hosts Barnstormers games along with concerts and other events. With an arena capacity of approximately 16,980 (lower for an indoor football configuration), the setting creates an intimate, high-energy environment where fans stay close to every snap and score.

As a long-standing IFL franchise, Iowa competes in an independent/developmental league that serves as a proving ground for players pursuing opportunities in higher-profile leagues. If you’re targeting a specific date—especially a matchup with playoff implications—browsing Iowa Barnstormers tickets early is the smartest move.

Best Seats for Iowa Barnstormers Games

The right seat depends on what kind of game night experience you're after:

  • Best value: Upper-level sections — elevated full view, crowd energy, lower price point
  • Closest to the action: Lower bowl (100-level) — feel the pace up close
  • Best overall view: Lower-bowl sideline seats near midfield — strong sightlines as plays develop across the field

Getting Ready for Iowa Barnstormers Game Night

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation goes a long way — especially with downtown event traffic and the quick pace of entry before kickoff.

  • Download your tickets before you leave. Mobile service near Wells Fargo Arena gets congested on game nights. Save them to your phone's wallet or screenshot them as a backup.
  • Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is the standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having.
  • Arrive early. Doors typically open approximately one hour before kickoff.
  • Use public transit if you can. Wells Fargo Arena is served by DART (Des Moines Area Regional Transit) with routes serving downtown Des Moines near the Iowa Events Center.
  • Plan your rideshare pickup point. Designated rideshare pickup/drop-off zones are available around the Iowa Events Center campus, and post-game pickups can take longer than expected.
  • Check the bag policy before you go. Wells Fargo Arena enforces a clear-bag policy, restricts bag sizes, and prohibits large bags; prohibited items include outside food/beverage and weapons.
  • Bring a card or mobile payment — Wells Fargo Arena is cashless. Credit/debit and mobile payment are accepted at concessions and points of sale.
  • Parking is available nearby. On-site and nearby parking is available through the Iowa Events Center, including adjacent lots and ramps downtown.
