About Westville Music Bowl

Westville Music Bowl is an open-air amphitheatre located at 45 Yale Avenue in New Haven, Connecticut, in the Westville/Yale Bowl area. The venue opened as a music venue in 2020 after the Yale Bowl–adjacent Connecticut Tennis Center / Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center complex was repurposed into a concert bowl. It holds approximately 5,000 to 6,000 guests for concerts, with capacity varying by configuration.

Promoted as Connecticut’s newest open-air music venue, Westville Music Bowl gives the New Haven area a mid-sized outdoor concert option with a seasonal calendar that runs primarily through the warmer months. Its event mix centers on live concerts across multiple genres, touring acts, and related open-air music events.

The Bowl’s defining feature is its intimate, stage-facing amphitheatre layout: tiered seating set within a historic stadium structure near the Yale Bowl.

Location & Transportation

Westville Music Bowl is located at 45 Yale Avenue, New Haven, CT 06515 — in the Westville area of New Haven near the Yale Bowl and surrounding athletic grounds.

Driving and Parking: Car access is the primary way most guests get to Westville Music Bowl. Parking is available on the surrounding Yale Bowl and athletic grounds, and arriving early is important on busy show nights because lots can fill before showtime.

Transit: CT Transit bus service operates in New Haven, but direct transit access to the venue is limited. For many attendees, transit works best when paired with a rideshare or short car connection from another part of the city.

Rideshare: Rideshare drop-off and pickup are practical options, especially given the limited direct transit access. After the show, expect some wait time as vehicles move through the surrounding area and traffic clears.

Nearby Accommodation: Lodging is concentrated in downtown New Haven and near Yale University, both a short drive from the venue. Additional hotel options can be found along the I-95 and Route 34 corridors.

Venue Navigation

Westville Music Bowl uses an open-air bowl layout, with tiered seating oriented toward the stage. Understanding the bowl’s steps, seating tiers, and show-specific setup can make arrival and section-finding smoother.

Entrances and Access: Guests enter through gates at the bowl structure off Yale Avenue. Because the venue operates as an outdoor concert bowl, entry flow can build close to showtime, especially for higher-demand concerts.

Seating Levels: Seating is arranged in tiered bowl sections facing the stage, with a mix of general-admission and reserved areas depending on the event. Some shows may emphasize standing or floor-level access near the stage, while others use more reserved seating throughout the bowl.

Getting to Your Section: The venue includes tiered seating and steps, so comfortable footwear is advisable. Give yourself time to move through the gates, follow posted signage, and get situated before the main act begins.

Dining Options

Inside Westville Music Bowl

Westville Music Bowl offers on-site concessions with food and beverages, including items such as hot dogs and pints. Alcohol service is available for guests of legal drinking age. Lines can be busiest near showtime and between sets, so building in extra time for concessions helps keep the evening relaxed.

Outside the Venue — Westville Village and Downtown New Haven

The Westville Village neighborhood offers local restaurants and bars near the venue. For a wider pre-show or post-show dining plan, downtown New Haven has a broader restaurant scene and is known for pizza along with a diverse mix of eateries.

Security & Policies

Westville Music Bowl maintains security and venue policies that are updated regularly and may vary by event. Before attending, reviewing the current policy on the venue's official website is strongly recommended.

Bag Policy: Bag restrictions typically apply at open-air concert venues. Small bags are generally permitted subject to search, and bringing only what you need can help speed entry.

Commonly Prohibited Items: Commonly restricted items include weapons, outside food and drink, and professional recording equipment, consistent with standard concert policy.

Entry Procedures: Expect bag checks and digital ticket scanning at the gates. Arriving with a compliant bag and pre-downloaded tickets speeds entry.

How Much Do Tickets to Westville Music Bowl Cost?

Westville Music Bowl ticket prices vary widely depending on the type of event, the artist, seating section, and demand — which is what you'd expect from a venue that hosts everything from general admission and mid-tier concerts to higher-demand headliners.

For general admission and mid-tier concerts, tickets can start around approximately $45 to $75, depending on the act, date, and whether the event uses general admission, reserved seating, or a mix of both.

For higher-demand headliners, Westville Music Bowl tickets can reach $80 or more, especially when inventory tightens for popular touring acts or the most desirable areas near the stage.

Buying earlier generally secures better pricing and seat selection for popular shows. As the event date approaches and inventory shrinks, the best remaining sections can become more expensive, particularly for concerts with strong demand.

Getting Ready for Your Westville Music Bowl Event

Once your tickets are confirmed, a few practical preparations make your visit run significantly smoother — especially at an open-air venue like this where parking, gates, weather, and tiered seating all factor into the experience.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Cell service around the venue can be congested on busy show nights. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before departing so you're ready at the gate without needing a signal.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having for a full evening.
• Arrive early. Give yourself extra time to manage parking fill and gate lines before the show.
• Wear the right footwear. The bowl involves tiered seating and steps, so supportive, comfortable shoes are a smart choice.
• Dress in layers. As an open-air venue, Westville Music Bowl can bring temperature swings, and rain protection may be useful depending on the forecast.
• Check the bag policy in advance. Reviewing the venue's guidelines before packing prevents delays at security.
