About Theatre At Dow Event Center

Theatre at the Dow Event Center is the seated performance hall within the larger Dow Event Center complex at 303 Johnson Street in Saginaw, Michigan. The complex opened in 1972 as the Saginaw Civic Center / Wendler Arena complex and was renamed The Dow Event Center in 2005. The Theatre has an approximately 2,000-seat performance configuration, and the complex is owned by the City of Saginaw and Saginaw County and operated under professional venue management.

The Theatre is a long-standing entertainment anchor for Saginaw and the Great Lakes Bay Region, bringing touring entertainment to mid-Michigan for decades. Its event mix includes Broadway touring productions, concerts across genres, comedy, ballet and dance, family shows, and other live stage entertainment. The larger Dow Event Center complex has also hosted major acts over its history, including Fleetwood Mac, Johnny Cash, Queen, Metallica, and John Mellencamp.

As the seated performing-arts hall within a multi-venue campus that also includes Wendler Arena and the Unity Hall ballroom, Theatre at the Dow Event Center gives Saginaw a flexible downtown destination for live entertainment.

Location & Transportation

Theatre at the Dow Event Center is located at 303 Johnson Street, Saginaw, MI 48607 — in downtown Saginaw within the Dow Event Center complex.

Driving and Parking: Most attendees arrive by car. The venue is situated downtown with surrounding surface parking and lots serving the Dow Event Center complex, and parking is generally straightforward compared with major-market venues. For popular shows, arriving early helps with parking, security screening, and finding your way into the Theatre.

Transit: Local bus service through STARS — Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services — serves the downtown Saginaw area. Transit access is more limited than in larger metropolitan areas, so many guests use a car, rideshare, or hotel shuttle-style arrangement when staying nearby.

Rideshare: Uber and Lyft operate in the Saginaw area, with drop-off and pickup at the venue’s downtown location. After well-attended shows, allow extra time for vehicles to reach the area and for the post-event crowd to clear.

Nearby Accommodation: Hotels are available in downtown Saginaw and along nearby commercial corridors within a short drive of the venue. Staying downtown or near the main commercial corridors can make arrival and departure easier for evening performances.

Venue Navigation

Theatre at the Dow Event Center is part of a larger downtown complex, so knowing the basic layout before arrival makes the experience smoother. Guests enter through the Dow Event Center complex and access the Theatre inside the building.

Entrances and Access: Guests use the Dow Event Center complex entrances on Johnson Street, then proceed inside to the Theatre. Because the complex includes multiple event spaces, Theatre signage and staff direction help guide guests toward the seated performance hall.

Seating Levels: The Theatre uses a seated configuration oriented toward the stage, with orchestra-level seating and elevated seating areas. The layout is designed for stage performances, making section position and distance from the stage important when comparing tickets.

Accessibility: Accessible seating and services are available within the complex, with ADA accommodations offered consistent with the venue’s public-assembly facilities. Guests who need accessible seating should select appropriate listings when purchasing and review event details before arrival.

How Much Do Tickets to Theatre At Dow Event Center Cost?

Theatre At Dow Event Center ticket prices vary significantly depending on the type of event, the artist or production, seating section, and demand — which is what you'd expect from a venue that hosts everything from comedy and smaller touring shows to high-demand headliners and premium productions.

For comedy and smaller touring shows, tickets can start as low as roughly $30–$60, especially for rear or elevated seating areas where available.

For concerts and Broadway touring productions, tickets typically fall around $45–$100, with pricing shaped by the act or production, demand, and seat location.

For high-demand headliners and premium productions, tickets can reach $100 or more, particularly for center orchestra areas and the closest available seats to the stage.
