About Sonnentag Event Center

Sonnentag Event Center, officially the John & Carolyn Sonnentag Event Center, opened in 2024 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The arena is located at 1061 Menomonie St. and is part of The Sonnentag, a larger recreation and event complex associated with the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the Blugold Real Estate Foundation, and a Mayo Clinic Health System partnership. Its capacity is approximately 5,000, with seating and floor arrangements that vary by configuration for sports, concerts, and other events.

The venue serves as a home facility for the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds of NCAA Division III while also hosting high school athletic events, concerts, community events, conventions, and private or rental functions. Its role extends beyond game day: The Sonnentag complex combines collegiate athletics, recreation, fitness, and flexible event spaces within one modern development.

As a new public-private facility serving both campus and the broader Eau Claire community, Sonnentag Event Center is known for its multi-use footprint and its ability to host everything from Blugolds athletics to ticketed entertainment and community programming.

Location & Transportation

Sonnentag Event Center is located at 1061 Menomonie St., Eau Claire, WI 54703 — on Menomonie Street in Eau Claire as part of The Sonnentag complex.

Driving and Parking: Driving is the primary way most guests reach Sonnentag Event Center. On-site and adjacent parking is available at the complex, and Eau Claire is a car-oriented market, so building in extra arrival time is helpful for popular events.

Transit: Eau Claire Transit local bus routes serve the area around Menomonie Street. Transit access is more limited than in larger metro areas, so it works best for attendees who already use local bus service or are traveling from nearby parts of Eau Claire.

Rideshare: Uber and Lyft operate in Eau Claire, and rideshare drop-off and pickup at the complex entrances is practical. After events, rideshare availability can be lighter than in larger cities, so allowing extra time for pickup is a smart plan.

Nearby Accommodation: Hotels are available throughout Eau Claire, including along the Clairemont Avenue corridor, near downtown Eau Claire, and around the US-53/I-94 interchanges. These areas are within a short drive of the venue.

Venue Navigation

Sonnentag Event Center is a modern indoor arena within a larger multi-building complex, so reviewing your event details before arrival helps you move from parking or drop-off into the venue more smoothly.

Accessibility: As a newly constructed 2024 facility, Sonnentag Event Center is built to current ADA accessibility standards, including accessible seating and services.

How Much Do Tickets to Sonnentag Event Center Cost?

Sonnentag Event Center ticket prices vary significantly depending on the type of event, the artist or team, seating section, and demand — which is what you'd expect from a venue that hosts everything from college and high school athletics to concerts and special events.

For college and high school athletics, tickets can be priced at approximately $5–$20, depending on the matchup, seat location, and event demand. Blugolds games and other athletic events are typically among the more accessible ticket options at the venue.

For concerts and special events, tickets typically run about $25–$75 or more depending on the act, seating location, and level of demand. Higher-profile performers and special-event formats can push prices higher as inventory tightens.

Buying earlier generally provides better seat selection and pricing for higher-demand events. As available inventory shrinks and the event date gets closer, the best remaining sections can become more expensive.

Getting Ready for Your Sonnentag Event Center Event

Once your tickets are confirmed, a few practical preparations make your visit run significantly smoother — especially at a venue where most attendees arrive by car and popular events can create heavier parking and entry demand.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before departing so you're ready at the arena entrance without needing a signal.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having for a full evening.
• Arrive early. Give yourself extra time for parking and entry, especially for popular events in a car-dependent market like Eau Claire.
• Dress in layers. Sonnentag Event Center is an indoor venue, but Wisconsin’s seasonal weather can affect travel to and from the arena, particularly during winter conditions.
• Build extra time into your transit plan. If you are using local bus service, rideshare, or a hotel shuttle arrangement, allow additional time around event start and end times.
• Check the bag policy in advance. Reviewing the venue's guidelines before packing prevents delays at security.
