About Majestic Ventura Theatre

Majestic Ventura Theatre is a historic theater and music hall at 26 S. Chestnut St in Ventura, California. Opened in 1928 as a movie palace, it later became a live concert and performance venue. The theater holds approximately 1,200 guests, with capacity varying by setup because many events use a general-admission floor along with seated areas.

Also known as The Ventura Theatre and The Majestic, the venue is a landmark of downtown Ventura and is regarded as the area’s premier historic live music venue. It was originally built as the only luxury theater in Ventura County, and today it is a well-known Southern California touring stop between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.

The event calendar spans concerts across many genres — including rock, metal, punk, reggae, hip-hop, Latin, and tribute acts — along with comedy, private events, and special-occasion shows. Its restored 1920s character, vintage architectural detailing, and compact scale give the room a close, neighborhood-anchored live-event feel.

Transit is a secondary option for most attendees, but it can be practical for guests already traveling through downtown Ventura or arriving by regional rail.

Venue Navigation

Majestic Ventura Theatre has a classic single-house theater layout, so understanding the floor-and-balcony arrangement before you buy helps you choose the right concert experience. Many shows place the strongest energy on the main floor, while seated or balcony-style areas can offer a different view of the stage.

Entrances and Access: The main entrance faces S. Chestnut St in downtown Ventura. Plan to approach from the Chestnut Street side and have your tickets ready before reaching the door.

Seating Levels: The venue uses a historic single-room theater layout with a main floor and additional seated, balcony-style areas typical of a restored 1920s theater. Many concerts use a general-admission standing floor, while upper seating arrangements can vary by event.

How Much Do Tickets to Majestic Ventura Theatre Cost?

Majestic Ventura Theatre ticket prices vary significantly depending on the type of event, the artist, seating section, and demand — which is what you'd expect from a venue that hosts everything from general-admission smaller touring shows to higher-demand concerts and special events.

General-admission and smaller touring shows can start around approximately $25–$60, depending on the act, day of week, and ticket inventory. Because many concerts use a standing-floor setup, prices can be influenced by overall show demand as much as by a specific seat location.

Mid-tier and higher-demand concerts typically run approximately $60–$140 or more. Marquee artists, special-event dates, and shows with especially strong demand can push prices higher as the event date approaches and the best remaining inventory tightens.

Buying earlier generally secures better availability and pricing for popular shows, which can sell out given the room’s intimate capacity. As inventory shrinks, the strongest remaining options often become more expensive, especially for concerts with a loyal fan base or limited Southern California dates.

Majestic Ventura Theatre Seating Guide

Majestic Ventura Theatre seating is worth reviewing before you buy because the venue often blends a general-admission floor with seated or balcony-style areas. The right choice depends on whether you want to stand close to the stage, settle into an elevated view, or choose the configuration that fits your show best.

Best Seats at Majestic Ventura Theatre

• Closest to the action: The front of the general-admission floor places you directly before the stage and gives you the most immediate concert experience.
• Seated perspective: Balcony-style seated areas can be a strong fit for fans who prefer to watch from above the main floor when that configuration is used.
• Main floor energy: For concerts with general admission, the floor offers the most active crowd atmosphere and the flexibility to choose your position after entering.
• General admission: Many concerts at Majestic Ventura Theatre are offered with a standing general-admission floor, with the exact configuration varying by event.

Getting Ready for Your Majestic Ventura Theatre Event

Once your tickets are confirmed, a few practical preparations make the night run significantly smoother — especially at a downtown theater where parking, entry timing, and general-admission positioning can shape your experience.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before departing so you're ready at the entrance without needing a signal.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having for a full evening.
• Arrive early. Give yourself extra time to secure downtown parking and, for general-admission shows, claim a better floor position before the room fills.
• Wear the right footwear. The historic theater has stairs to balcony-level areas, and comfortable footwear is wise for general-admission standing shows.
• Dress in layers. The show takes place indoors, but downtown Ventura’s coastal evenings can be cool before and after the event.
• Build extra time into your transit plan. Arriving early is especially helpful on busy nights when downtown parking fills and crowds gather before doors.
• Check the bag policy in advance. Reviewing the venue's guidelines before packing prevents delays at security.
