About Capitol Civic Centre

Capitol Civic Centre is a historic theater and music hall located at 913 S. 8th Street in downtown Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Originally opened in 1921 as the Capitol Theatre, it began as a movie palace before being restored and reopened as a performing arts center in 1987. The venue is operated by Capitol Civic Centre, Inc., a nonprofit organization, and seats approximately 1,100 guests.

The venue’s calendar includes touring concerts and tribute acts, musicals and plays, ballet and other dance performances, family and holiday shows, comedy, and community performances. Its restored early-1920s architecture and intimate theater layout help create a close connection between performers and the audience, making it a cornerstone cultural venue for Manitowoc and Wisconsin’s Lakeshore region.

Capitol Civic Centre is also home to a long-running annual production of “The Nutcracker,” a Manitowoc holiday tradition for roughly 50 years.

How Much Do Tickets to Capitol Civic Centre Cost?

Capitol Civic Centre ticket prices vary based on the event, seat location, and demand. Premium and lower-level seats are in high demand, while upper-level sections offer strong value.

Pricing is typically driven by the specific act or production. Touring headliners and marquee shows generally command higher prices than community or local productions, while long-running holiday favorites can draw strong demand from returning audiences.

For popular shows and holiday traditions, buying earlier generally provides better seat selection. As inventory shrinks and the performance date approaches, the best remaining seats can become harder to find.

Getting Ready for Your Capitol Civic Centre Event

Once your tickets are confirmed, a few practical steps make your visit run significantly smoother — especially for a downtown theater performance where parking, ticket entry, and seating all happen close to showtime.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before departing so you're ready at the entrance without needing a signal.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having for a full evening.
• Arrive early. The box office opens one hour prior to performances, and arriving ahead of showtime is advisable for parking and seating.
• Build extra time into your transit plan. Downtown street parking and nearby lots can require a short walk, so give yourself enough time to park, reach the S. 8th Street entrance, and settle in before the performance begins.
• Check the bag policy in advance. Reviewing the venue's guidelines before packing prevents delays at security.
