About Cactus Theater

Cactus Theater is a historic theater and music hall located at 1812 Buddy Holly Ave. in Lubbock, Texas. Originally opened in 1938 as a single-screen movie theater, it was restored and reopened as a live performance venue in the 1990s. Operated in association with Historic Cactus Theater of Lubbock Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the venue, it has an intimate reserved-seating capacity of approximately 400 seats.

Known locally as The Cactus, the venue is regarded as a cultural landmark of West Texas and a cornerstone of downtown Lubbock’s Depot Entertainment District. Its event calendar includes live concerts across genres, with strong country, Americana, gospel, and classic-rock programming, along with tribute and variety shows, musical theater, stage productions, seasonal performances, and local and regional artist showcases.

The theater retains its vintage character, including a signature neon “Cactus Theater” marquee that lights up the downtown entertainment district.

How Much Do Tickets to Cactus Theater Cost?

Cactus Theater ticket prices vary significantly depending on the type of event, the artist or production, seating section, and demand — which is what you'd expect from a venue that hosts everything from local showcases to headline concerts and marquee productions.

For tribute, variety, and local showcase events, Cactus Theater tickets can often fall in the approximate $20–$40 range, depending on the show and seat location.

For headline concerts and marquee productions, tickets typically run around $35–$75 or more, with pricing influenced by performer demand and the seat’s position within the house.

Because Cactus Theater has a small reserved-seat capacity, buying earlier usually gives you better access to preferred seat locations and stronger availability for popular shows. As inventory narrows closer to the event date, the best remaining seats can become more competitive.
