Show Information

World of Dance began in 2008 in Southern California as an original live dance event and competition platform. Since its founding, it has developed into one of the largest dance competition networks, giving individual dancers, duos, and crews a major stage for competitive performance, choreography, and live audience engagement.

The event is a touring and ongoing live competitive dance showcase held at venues across the United States and internationally. Each World of Dance event is structured around multiple divisions and skill levels, with performances presented across a live competition format. Show length varies by event and the number of competing acts, typically running approximately 2 to 4 hours; longer competitions may include breaks between divisions.

World of Dance has operated continuously since 2008 and now supports a global network of more than 50 events. Its reach extends beyond the stage through a widely followed YouTube channel with an international audience, and the brand also expanded into the NBC reality competition series “World of Dance” from 2017 to 2020, executive produced by Jennifer Lopez and featuring judges Jennifer Lopez, Derek Hough, and Ne-Yo.

Story Summary

World of Dance is a live competitive dance event built around a sequence of performances by individual dancers, duos, and crews across multiple divisions and skill levels. The event is unified by its celebration of dance artistry, especially urban, hip-hop, and street styles, as performers compete before judges and audiences for recognition and prizes.

The experience moves through a high-energy arc as divisions build throughout the event. Audiences may see junior performers, amateur competitors, soloists, partnered routines, headline teams, and upper-division acts, with the intensity rising toward the most ambitious final performances.

No prior dance knowledge is required to enjoy World of Dance. Show Highlights

World of Dance is known for high-impact routines, precision movement, and competitive moments that turn each event into a showcase of style, technique, and personality.

• Team Division Performances — The large-group routines are often among the most spectacular parts of the event. These performances feature tight synchronization, shifting formations, and show-stopping choreography that fills the stage with motion and energy.

• Junior Division Showcases — Younger dancers bring remarkable skill, polish, and confidence to the stage. These showcases often become crowd favorites because they combine technical discipline with the surprise and excitement of emerging talent.

• Soloist Battles — Solo competitors command the stage through personal artistry, musical interpretation, and technical virtuosity. These performances give individual dancers room to show distinctive style and connect with the crowd on their own terms.

• Duo Performances — Partnered routines highlight timing, chemistry, and inventive choreography. The best duos use the connection between dancers to create moments that feel athletic, expressive, and sharply coordinated.

• Upper Division Finals — The highest-stakes performances bring the event to its competitive peak. Top competitors deliver their most ambitious routines as they compete for recognition, prizes, and the title at the center of the event.

World of Dance Seating Guide

World of Dance events are held at venues across the United States and internationally, so seating layouts can vary from city to city. Where you sit shapes the experience, especially for a dance event where formations, spacing, and full-stage movement are central to the performance.

Best Seats for World of Dance

The best World of Dance seats depend on whether you want close-up intensity, full-stage perspective, or a strong balance of both.

• Best value: Upper mezzanine and rear orchestra sections — These areas can offer strong views of group formations and staging while keeping you farther from the highest-demand front sections.
• Closest to the stage: Front orchestra sections — These seats put you nearest the dancers, making facial expression, footwork, and performance intensity easier to see.
• Best overall experience: Mid-orchestra and front mezzanine sections — These sections usually provide a balanced view of the full stage while keeping you close enough to feel the live energy of the competition.
• For families with young children: Aisle-access sections can make the experience easier, especially because World of Dance events typically run approximately 2 to 4 hours depending on the number of competing acts. Longer competitions may include breaks between divisions.
• For groups: Coordinate contiguous seats early, since blocks in popular sections sell through quickly when crews, families, and dance fans plan outings together.

Can I See Where My Seats Are?

Yes. The interactive seat map on BoxOfficeTicketSales.com shows your exact section and row placement before you buy. Use it to understand your angle to the stage, your distance from the front, and whether you're in the orchestra, mezzanine, or balcony — so the seats you choose match exactly what you're looking for on show night.

Getting Ready for Show Night

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation makes the full experience run smoothly from arrival through the final bow.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Cell service around the venue can be congested on busy performance days. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before heading out so you're ready at the door without needing a signal.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard at most theaters. A portable battery pack is worth having, especially if you're combining the show with dinner or other activities.
• Arrive at least 30 minutes before showtime. Venue doors open well before the show begins; arriving early gives you time to find your seats and settle in before the house lights go down — and avoids the disruption of late seating, which many theaters restrict.
• For families, prepare for a high-energy dance event. World of Dance is generally appropriate for most ages and is a family-friendly celebration of dance, but the event can run approximately 2 to 4 hours depending on the number of competing acts.
