The Cher Show Tickets

If you're looking for The Cher Show tickets, you're planning a night with a jukebox biographical musical built around the life, career, music, and reinventions of Cher. With a Broadway premiere at the Neil Simon Theatre in 2018, a Tony-winning Bob Mackie costume design, and a national tour bringing the production to theaters and performing arts centers across North America, The Cher Show turns one of pop culture's most enduring careers into a glamorous, high-energy stage experience.

This page covers everything you need — from what the show is and what to expect, to finding the right seats and buying with complete confidence.

Show Information

The Cher Show began with a pre-Broadway tryout at Chicago's Oriental Theatre in June 2018 before opening on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre in New York on December 3, 2018, following previews that began November 1, 2018. The musical is based on the real life and career of Cher, with a book by Rick Elice, direction by Jason Moore, and choreography by Christopher Gattelli. Its score is drawn from songs Cher recorded and performed throughout her career, giving the show a wall-to-wall catalog of recognizable hits.

The production is a jukebox biographical musical with a distinctive structure: three actresses portray Cher at different stages of her life — Babe, Lady, and Star — and at times share the stage together. The current North American national tour brings The Cher Show to theaters and performing arts centers across the United States, while the title is also licensed for regional and international productions. The show runs approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes and includes one intermission.

The Cher Show won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical for Bob Mackie's extravagant work, reflecting the longtime designer's connection to Cher's iconic stage looks. The original Broadway production also received additional Tony nominations, and Stephanie J. Block won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance as the mature “Star” Cher.

Story Summary

The Cher Show follows Cher from her humble childhood and teenage rise to pop stardom with Sonny Bono through her film career, solo success, and repeated reinventions. Set across the United States from the 1960s through later decades of her career, the musical traces how Cher grows from Babe into Lady and Star while facing self-doubt, relationship challenges, and the demands of the music industry.

The story centers on Cher's evolving identity and the people who help define key chapters of her life, including Sonny Bono and Bob Mackie. Mackie appears as a guiding presence in the narrative, tying the musical's emotional arc to the dazzling visual style that helped shape Cher's public image. Through its three-Cher device, the production lets earlier and later versions of Cher reflect on choices, setbacks, and the resilience required to keep moving forward.

At its core, The Cher Show is about reinvention, self-determination, female empowerment, fame, and enduring identity. No prior knowledge of Cher's life or music is required; the show is designed to stand alone for newcomers while giving longtime fans a vivid theatrical journey through songs and moments they already know.

The Cher Show Seating Guide

The Cher Show plays touring theater venues and performing arts centers of varying sizes, so the seating layout can change from city to city. Where you sit shapes how close you feel to the performers, the choreography, and the Tony-winning costume spectacle that defines the production.

Best Seats for The Cher Show

The best seats for The Cher Show depend on whether you want premium proximity, full-stage perspective, or the strongest overall value.

• Best value: Upper mezzanine and rear orchestra sections — These seats usually offer a clear view of the full stage while keeping you farther from premium front-section pricing.
• Closest to the stage: Front orchestra sections — Sitting close gives you a stronger view of facial expressions, costume detail, and the energy of the musical numbers.
• Best overall experience: Mid-orchestra and front mezzanine sections — These areas balance proximity with a wider view of staging, choreography, and fast costume changes.
• For families with young children: Aisle-access seats can make it easier to get in and out before the show and during intermission. With an approximate 2-hour-and-30-minute runtime and one intermission, families should plan ahead for younger theatergoers.
• For groups: Coordinate contiguous seats early, since blocks in popular orchestra and mezzanine sections sell through quickly.

Yes. The interactive seat map on BoxOfficeTicketSales.com shows your exact section and row placement before you buy. Use it to understand your angle to the stage, your distance from the front, and whether you're in the orchestra, mezzanine, or balcony — so the seats you choose match exactly what you're looking for before the curtain rises.

Getting Ready for Show Night

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation makes the full experience run smoothly from arrival through the final bow.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Cell service around the venue can be congested on busy performance nights. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before heading out so you're ready at the door without needing a signal.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard at most theaters. A portable battery pack is worth having, especially if you're combining the show with dinner or other activities.
• Arrive at least 30 minutes before curtain. Venue doors open well before the show begins; arriving early gives you time to find your seats and settle in before the house lights go down — and avoids the disruption of late seating, which many theaters restrict.
• Plan for the intermission. The Cher Show includes one intermission during its approximate 2-hour-and-30-minute runtime. Lines for concessions and restrooms often build immediately after the act break, so use the time efficiently.
• Know the venue's phone and photography policy. Photography and recording during the performance are not permitted. Silence your phone before the show begins and keep devices away during the performance.
• For families. The show is generally suitable for a broad audience, though themes involving relationships, marriage, and career struggles make it best enjoyed by older children, teens, and adults.
