About Southern Illinois Salukis Women's Basketball

Southern Illinois Salukis Women's Basketball competes in NCAA Division I as a member of the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC). Representing Southern Illinois University Carbondale (founded in 1869), the Salukis bring a distinctive identity to the MVC with the Salukis nickname and mascot presence built around the saluki hound (“Grey Dawg”), along with team colors anchored by maroon and white.

Home games are played at Banterra Center (formerly SIU Arena) in Carbondale, Illinois. The on-campus, multipurpose arena opened in 1964, later renovated, and has naming rights with Banterra Bank (2019). With an approximate capacity of 8,000, it delivers the classic college feel—close sightlines, a student section, and the traditional pep band presence that helps shape the in-arena energy.

Within the MVC, matchups against programs like the Illinois State Redbirds and Drake Bulldogs can draw extra attention, and Illinois State has long been a natural in-state rival. If there’s a specific conference matchup you’re targeting, browsing Southern Illinois Salukis Women's Basketball tickets early is the smartest move.
