This page covers everything you need — from understanding how Soldier Salute works to finding the right tickets and knowing what to expect when you arrive.

About Soldier Salute

Soldier Salute is an annual NCAA Division I collegiate wrestling tournament held in Coralville, Iowa at Xtream Arena, typically around late December through early January (recent editions ran January 3–4). Hosted in the Iowa City area, it’s a multi-team, midseason event that draws top programs—particularly from the Big Ten—into a single tournament setting, with a military tribute theme honoring members of the armed forces.

The event runs as a bracketed individual tournament across all ten weight classes over two days and multiple sessions. Wrestlers advance through championship brackets with consolation rounds determining placement, leading to the weight-class finals. In recent editions, the weekend has also featured dual-style competition (“Soldier Salute Duals”) alongside the bracketed tournament.

What’s on the line is more than just hardware: athletes compete for weight-class titles and placement finishes, plus quality wins and seeding momentum heading into conference and NCAA championship season. The field has included programs such as Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, and Michigan State, and the tournament regularly delivers nationally ranked, championship-caliber matchups. Xtream Arena’s compact bowl keeps fans close to the mats, and with a strong Hawkeye fan presence during the holiday season, the atmosphere is built for big moments. If you're planning to attend Soldier Salute, browsing tickets early is the smartest move.

How Much Do Soldier Salute Tickets Cost?

Soldier Salute tickets typically range from around $20 to $40 for single-session general seating to $40–$40 or more for premium lower-bowl/club seating, with premium packages running higher.

Several factors can move prices up or down, including whether you’re buying a single-session ticket versus an all-session or multi-day pass, how close your seats are to the mats, and demand tied to marquee matchups—especially Iowa headliners. If you’re looking for value, upper rows and corner/end sections are typically the most affordable way to be in the building for a full tournament day.

No hidden fees. At Box Office Ticket Sales, the price you see is the price you pay. All fees are shown before checkout — no surprise charges when you reach the final step.

Getting Ready for Soldier Salute Tournament Day

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation goes a long way — especially for a multi-session, two-day tournament where you’ll be on your feet, in your seat, and following the brackets from morning through finals.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Cellular service near large events can get congested on tournament days. Save them to your phone's wallet or screenshot them as a backup.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is the standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having.
• Arrive early. Give yourself extra time for entry and security, especially on high-demand dates.
• Plan your bag setup. Xtream Arena uses a clear-bag policy; small clutch, medical, and diaper bags are generally permitted, while larger non-clear bags are prohibited.
• Think through parking and pickup. Parking is available on-site and in adjacent surface/structured options in the Iowa River Landing district, and rideshare drop-off/pickup is accommodated at designated areas near the arena entrances.
• Bring a card or mobile payment — many vendors are cashless. Xtream Arena is a cashless venue with credit/debit and mobile payments accepted, with cash-to-card conversion typically available.
• Pack for comfort. Bring your mobile ticket, dress in layers for a cold-weather holiday event, and consider a seat cushion for long multi-session days.
