About Kentucky Gymnastics

Kentucky Wildcats Gymnastics is the University of Kentucky’s women’s gymnastics program, established in 1974 and competing at the NCAA Division I level in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). In one of the nation’s deepest conferences, Kentucky has grown into a consistent SEC presence, earning numerous trips to NCAA Regional competition and reaching the NCAA Championships in its strongest seasons.

In the modern era, the Wildcats have continued to raise the program’s ceiling with program-record team scores, top-16 national rankings, and a reputation for depth across vault, bars, beam, and floor. The program has produced multiple All-Americans, SEC event champions, and individual national qualifiers who have represented Kentucky on the sport’s biggest stages. Notable program leadership includes Tim Garrison, the longtime head coach who elevated Kentucky’s national standing during a period of record-setting scores and NCAA appearances.

Meet-day crowds at Memorial Coliseum often blend students and families, with theme nights, in-arena music between rotations, and recognition of local youth gymnastics clubs helping build a lively home environment.

Kentucky Wildcats Gymnastics Seating at Memorial Coliseum

Memorial Coliseum is known for an intimate, loud environment with close sightlines to the competition floor. The single primary seating bowl surrounding the floor creates a focused meet-day feel, with lower rows delivering an up-close look at individual routines and higher rows giving you a broader view of everything happening across all four apparatus.

Best Seats for Kentucky Wildcats Gymnastics Meets

The right seat depends on what kind of meet day experience you're after:

  • Best value: Upper rows and end sections — an elevated full-floor view with strong crowd energy at a lower price point
  • Closest to the action: Lower rows closest to the apparatus — ideal if you want to feel the pace of each routine from just a few steps away
  • Best overall view: Center sections along the long side of the floor, especially courtside near the apparatus — great sightlines as the meet flows across the competition floor
  • For groups and premium experiences: Center sections and nearby blocks of seats — a practical way to keep everyone together while staying close to the energy of the arena

If you’re organizing a group outing for a high-demand SEC meet, it’s smart to lock in seats early so you can keep everyone together.

  • Rideshare: Rideshare drop-off and pickup are accommodated near the campus arena area.
  • Bag Policy: University of Kentucky athletics enforces a clear-bag policy at its venues, limiting non-clear bags to small sizes; prohibited items typically include outside food/drink, weapons, and professional cameras.
  • Bring a card or mobile payment — Memorial Coliseum is cashless. Major credit/debit cards and mobile payments are accepted.
