About Abilene Christian Wildcats Basketball

Abilene Christian Wildcats basketball competes at the NCAA Division I level in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), continuing to build its profile after the program’s transition to Division I in 2013. A defining modern milestone came in 2019, when ACU earned the program’s first NCAA Division I Tournament berth, and the Wildcats’ national spotlight moment followed in 2021 with a signature NCAA Tournament upset of Texas, sealed in memorable fashion by Joe Pleasant. Key figures from the rise include Pleasant, guard Payten Ricks, and former head coach Joe Golding, who guided the Wildcats to Division I postseason breakthroughs before departing for UTEP.

The Wildcats play home games at Moody Coliseum in Abilene, Texas, an on-campus arena that opened in 1968 and holds approximately 4,600 fans. The single-bowl configuration and intimate footprint keep you close to the court, and the crowd can get loud quickly—especially with the band, spirit squads, and student section driving energy during big moments.

In WAC play, familiar matchups can drive demand, including regional and conference rivalries with Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Grand Canyon, and Tarleton State. If there’s a specific rivalry game you’re targeting, browsing Abilene Christian Wildcats Basketball tickets early is the smartest move.

Getting Ready for Abilene Christian Wildcats Basketball Game Night

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation goes a long way — especially with a lively on-campus arena environment where timing, parking, and entry lines can matter.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Mobile service near Moody Coliseum gets congested on game nights. Save them to your phone's wallet or screenshot them as a backup.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is the standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having.
• Arrive early. Give yourself extra time for entry and security, especially on high-demand nights.
• Public Transit: Use public transit if you can — it's often faster than driving on game night.
• Rideshare: Plan your rideshare pickup point — post-game pickups near Moody Coliseum can take longer than expected.
• Check the bag policy before you go so there are no surprises at the entrance.
