About The Flat Five

The Flat Five are a five-member Chicago-based vocal harmony group made up of Kelly Hogan, Nora O'Connor, Scott Ligon, Casey McDonough, and Alex Hall. Their sound centers on vintage-style harmony pop with roots-rock and alt-country influences, shaped by lush five-part vocals, bright melodies, warm instrumentation, and the kind of precision that comes from seasoned touring and session musicians playing together.

The group is often regarded as a Chicago supergroup because its members have deep connections across respected roots, pop, and Americana circles. Hogan is an acclaimed vocalist known for her work with Neko Case, Mavis Staples, and as a solo artist. O'Connor has also performed and recorded with Neko Case, Mavis Staples, and others. Ligon and McDonough are both associated with NRBQ, while Hall is a drummer, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer.

The Flat Five released their debut studio album, It's a World of Love and Hope, in 2016. Built from original songs written by Chris Ligon, the album showcased the group's layered vintage-pop harmonies and playful songcraft. Their second studio album, Another World, arrived in 2020 and continued that harmony-rich approach with more carefully crafted pop arrangements.

Today, The Flat Five remain active with periodic live performances, including Chicago-area and select regional shows. Their devoted following is drawn to the combination of distinctive voices, musical chemistry, and intimate-room performances that make The Flat Five tickets especially appealing when dates appear on the calendar.

Why You Want to See The Flat Five Live

The Flat Five live experience is built around vocal blend. Their dense, interlocking harmonies are the defining feature of the group, and in concert those parts become the center of the room: voices crossing, locking together, and opening up around warm, retro-leaning arrangements. The result is a show that rewards close listening while still feeling relaxed, witty, and inviting.

A The Flat Five concert also gives fans a chance to hear songs from their original catalog alongside well-chosen covers. Their setlists highlight harmony arrangements and give each member room to contribute, with the interplay among five accomplished musicians creating much of the live appeal. The focus is not on large-scale spectacle — it is on tone, timing, feel, and the pleasure of hearing expert players trade parts and spotlights.

The audience tends to be attentive and appreciative, with devoted music fans, harmony-pop enthusiasts, and admirers of the Chicago roots-music scene all drawn into the same room. Between the tight musicianship and warm between-song banter, the atmosphere feels personal, engaged, and deeply connected to the songs.

What to Expect at a The Flat Five Concert

A The Flat Five concert is an intimate, musicianship-focused performance built around vocal harmony, live interplay, and carefully arranged songs. Their shows typically draw from their original catalog while also making room for covers selected to showcase the group's harmony style and the individual strengths of each member.

The setlist character leans into the group's vintage-style pop identity. Expect songs that foreground bright melodies, layered vocal parts, playful lyrics, and arrangements shaped by 1960s and 1970s pop craftsmanship. Material from It's a World of Love and Hope and Another World fits naturally beside covers that let the group highlight their blend and musical range.

The crowd atmosphere is attentive rather than chaotic, with fans listening closely for the details in the harmonies and instrumental interplay. Because The Flat Five often play theaters, music halls, and intimate clubs, the performance can feel close-up and conversational, especially when the group uses between-song banter to connect with the room.

Production is centered on sound quality and performance. The draw is the warmth of the voices, the balance of instruments, and the live chemistry among five experienced musicians.

How Much Do Tickets to The Flat Five Cost?

The Flat Five tickets typically range from around $25 to $50 for general admission or reserved theater seating, with premium seats available at the higher end depending on the venue and market.

Prices can move based on venue size, city, seat location, and date. Because The Flat Five often play theaters, music halls, and intimate clubs, capacity can be an important factor — smaller rooms may have fewer total tickets available, and the best-located seats can draw stronger demand.

Buying earlier generally gives you better selection and more pricing options. As the show date gets closer and inventory tightens, the best remaining seats may become harder to find, especially for intimate-room performances and strong regional markets.

> No hidden fees. At Box Office Ticket Sales, the price you see is the price you pay. All fees are shown before checkout — no surprise charges when you reach the final step.

The Flat Five Seating Guide

The Flat Five commonly perform in theaters, music halls, and intimate clubs, where seat choice can shape how close you feel to the harmonies, musicianship, and between-song moments. Before buying, it is worth comparing reserved theater seating, general admission options, and premium locations when they are offered.

Best Seats for a The Flat Five Concert

The right seat depends on what kind of show experience you're after:

• Best value: General admission or standard reserved theater seating — these options can offer strong sound, a clear room-wide view, and accessible pricing for fans who want the full performance without paying for the closest seats.
• Closest to the stage: Front rows or front-of-stage general admission areas — these put you nearest the vocal blend, instrumental details, and member interplay that define a The Flat Five concert.
• Best overall experience: Mid-room reserved theater seats — these often provide a balanced mix of sightline, sound, proximity, and crowd energy.
• For groups: Coordinate seats early if you want to sit together, because contiguous blocks in smaller theaters, music halls, and clubs can disappear quickly.

Getting Ready for Show Night

Once your tickets are confirmed, a little preparation makes the whole evening run smoother — from the parking lot to the final encore.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Cell service around theaters, music halls, and clubs gets congested as show time approaches. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before heading out so you're not searching at the gate.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard at most venues, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having for a full evening out.
• Arrive before the listed start time. Shows often begin at or near the listed start time — arriving on time means you're in your seat when the music starts.
• Check the venue's bag policy before you go. Individual venues set their own security guidelines; reviewing them before you leave home prevents delays at the entrance.
