About Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre

Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre is a historic theater and music hall located at 290 W San Antonio St in New Braunfels, Texas. Originally opened in 1942 as a single-screen movie theatre, it was later restored and reopened as a performing arts venue. Today, it is operated by the Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre Association, a nonprofit arts organization, and seats approximately 700 guests.

The Brauntex hosts concerts and musical performances across genres, tribute acts, comedy, theatrical productions, local and nonprofit community events, film screenings, and seasonal programming. Its restored vintage movie-house styling, Art Deco character, downtown storefront marquee, and small-theatre scale make it a cornerstone of New Braunfels' cultural and performing arts scene.

Known locally as The Brauntex, the venue continues to serve downtown New Braunfels as a restored historic theatre with a main floor, balcony, and stage built for live performance.

Location & Transportation

Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre is located at 290 W San Antonio St, New Braunfels, TX 78130 — in the walkable downtown core near the main plaza.

Driving and Parking: Arrival is primarily by car in this small-city downtown setting. Street parking and nearby downtown public lots serve the area, and arriving ahead of showtime is advisable on busy event nights when downtown activity can make close parking harder to find.

Rideshare: Rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft operate in New Braunfels and the broader San Antonio/Austin corridor. Drop-off and pickup are straightforward at the downtown street-front entrance on W San Antonio Street.

Nearby Accommodation: Downtown New Braunfels and the surrounding area offer hotels, inns, and bed-and-breakfasts, with additional lodging along the I-35 corridor. New Braunfels is a popular tourism destination thanks to the Comal and Guadalupe rivers, Gruene, and Schlitterbahn, so visitors have a range of lodging options close to the theatre and nearby attractions.

Venue Navigation

Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre has a compact historic theatre layout, which makes navigation simple once you know the basic setup. The main street-front entrance leads into an intimate seated-performance space with a main floor and balcony facing the stage.

Entrances and Access: The main entrance faces W San Antonio Street beneath the downtown storefront marquee. Guests enter from the street-front side of the theatre.

Seating Levels: Seating is organized in a restored movie-house format with main-floor orchestra seating and a balcony level. Both areas face the stage, with the front main-floor rows closest to the performance and balcony seating set higher above the room.

How Much Do Tickets to Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre Cost?

Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre ticket prices vary significantly depending on the type of event, the artist, seating section, and demand — which is what you'd expect from a venue that hosts everything from local community productions and film events to touring concerts, tribute acts, and comedy.

Local and community productions and film events are typically on the lower end, often around $10–$30. These events can offer an accessible way to experience the historic theatre setting while enjoying seasonal programming, community productions, or screenings.

Touring concerts, tribute acts, and comedy events are typically mid-range, often around $25–$75 or more depending on the act. Seat location can also affect pricing, with main-floor and closer rows usually carrying stronger demand than rear main-floor or balcony options.

Because of the theatre's small capacity, popular shows can sell out. Buying earlier usually gives you better seat selection and stronger availability, while the best remaining sections can become more expensive as inventory tightens closer to show night.

Getting Ready for Your Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre Event

Once your tickets are confirmed, a few practical steps make your visit run significantly smoother — especially at a compact downtown theatre where parking and arrival timing matter on busy nights.

• Download your tickets before you leave. Save your tickets to your phone's wallet or screenshot them before departing so you're ready at the entrance without needing a signal.
• Charge your phone fully. Digital ticketing is standard, and your phone is your entry. A portable battery pack is worth having for a full evening.
• Arrive early. Give yourself extra time to find downtown parking and be seated before showtime. Some special events open doors well before the start time, giving guests more time to settle in.

• Plan for the weather outside. Brauntex Performing Arts Theatre is an indoor seated venue, so weather mainly affects your walk from parking to the entrance.
• Check the bag policy in advance. Reviewing the venue's guidelines before packing prevents delays at security.
