About Augusta Civic Center - ME

Augusta Civic Center - ME is a City of Augusta-owned and operated multi-purpose venue located at 76 Community Dr in Augusta, Maine. The facility opened in 1973 and includes roughly 49,000 total square feet across 26 rooms, anchored by a main auditorium/arena that seats approximately 6,000+ guests depending on event configuration. Capacity is smaller for seated-concert and banquet layouts, reflecting the venue’s flexible design.

The venue hosts a broad event mix that includes concerts, high school and amateur sporting events, trade shows and expos, conventions, graduations, banquets, family shows, and community events. It is regarded as Central Maine’s premier event and convention venue and has a long-standing connection to the Maine Principals’ Association high school basketball state tournaments, one of its signature annual uses.

Its defining feature is flexibility: the main auditorium can shift between arena seating, flat-floor exhibition space, banquet setups, and portable seating arrangements for different kinds of events.

Location & Transportation

Augusta Civic Center - ME is located at 76 Community Dr, Augusta, ME 04330 — near Interstate 95 at Exit 112, with access oriented around the Civic Center complex and nearby commercial corridors.

Driving and Parking: The venue is primarily car-accessed, with easy highway access from I-95. On-site surface parking is available at the complex, making driving the most practical option for most guests. For large events such as high school basketball tournaments, arriving early helps with parking and lobby congestion.

Transit: Public transit service is limited compared with larger-city venues, and the facility is best reached by car, rideshare, taxi, or hotel shuttle when available.

Rideshare: Rideshare and taxi drop-off is accommodated at the main entrance. Availability can be more limited than in major metro areas, so planning pickup timing after busy events is helpful.

Entrances and Access: The main entrance fronts the Civic Center complex on Community Drive and leads into the lobby, main auditorium, and meeting-room wings.

Seating Levels: The main auditorium uses a combination of fixed arena seating and portable or floor seating, depending on the event. For exhibitions and banquets, the same space can be arranged as a flat-floor setup rather than a seated arena configuration.
