There is one name in Kansas City entertainment venues and that is the Sprint Center. With a capacity of nearly 20,000 in various configurations, the sophisticated arena has been host to the biggest names in sport and entertainment in the Kansas City area since 2007. While many sporting events have made their way through the arena including the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament in 2008 and portions of the same in 2009 and the regional portion of the NCAA Women’s Tournament in 2010, its only permanent resident remains the Arena Football League’s Kansas City Command. There are negotiations for both NHL and NBA teams underway, however, so keep your eyes peeled for even more athletic action. Concerts are equally important to the venue and its highest capacity configuration is for the stage. Huge names in music like Elton John, Garth Brooks, and Britney Spears have played here and there is a continuous schedule of equally legendary acts coming through year round. Pay attention to the schedule and get your tickets early because seats sell fast and there is nowhere else around to catch these kinds of shows.
