Morrison, Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre is one of the most scenic, most spectacular outdoor venues anywhere in country. With a capacity of almost 9,500, the facility offers access to thrilling, open-air concerts in the clear mountain air with the remarkable natural stone backdrops that give it its name. The venue has been in operation since 1906 when visionary founder John Brisben Walker began sponsoring concerts under the open sky. In 1927 the city of Denver bought the site from Walker and employed Depression-era work programs to build it up into the modern day amphitheater from 1936 to 1941. Because of harsh Colorado winters, the venue operates from late spring to early fall only, but that does not mean you cannot enjoy the facility. It remains open as a community and park area year round and is popular for exercise and sightseeing.
