A true historic landmark in Red Bank, New Jersey, the Count Basie Theatre is a performing arts theatre that has a long record of hosting memorable artists. Opened in 1926 as the Carlton Theater, the venue was renamed in 1984 to honor Basie, a famed musician and bandleader, and a native of Red Bank. The site holds 1,543 people, and the box office there is the only official ticket provider for events held there. Throughout its history, the theatre has hosted legendary names in the music business, starting with Basie himself. In addition, James Brown, Tony Bennett, Olivia Newton-John, Boz Skaggs, George Carlin, Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys and Bruce Springsteen have all graced the venue’s famous stage. The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and the Monmouth Symphony Orchestra both regularly perform here, and the theatre is home to the Count Basie Performing Arts Academy.
