1350 Third Street, Napa, CA 94559
It’s official. Movies have NOT replaced live theater. Quite the other way around. Napa Valley’s original Uptown girl, the Uptown Theater is one of many that rode the movie boom wave from the thirties, declined to the point of closing by the end of the 20th Century, and was saved by remodeling into a live theater space, all without losing its original classic art deco look. Now a topnotch concert venue, the Uptown’s intimate 863-seat house provides a whole different experience from huge stadium venues. As you’d expect from the romantic Napa Valley wine country, ticket packages are a little out of the ordinary. Big city folk who want to get away from it all are offered dinner for two at one of Napa’s stellar restaurants, (how do you choose from Michael Chiarello, Thomas Keller, or Masaharu Morimoto?), two tickets to the current Uptown concert, and a night’s stay at top-rated hotel.
