Also known as the USF Arena & Convention Center, the USF Sun Dome is a 55,000-square-foot event center found within the University of South Florida campus, in Elm Drive Tampa, Florida. The construction of this building began in 1977 and was officially opened in November 29, 1980 upon its completion.
Owned by the said University and operated by Global Spectrum, it is home to the basketball and volleyball teams of the school. It was recognized as the largest arena next to the Ice Palace in 1996. Since it is a multi-purpose facility, it has serves as host to more than 300 events each year, including: concerts, trade shows, sporting events, home and garden shows, religious services, conventions, rodeos, ethnic festivals, competitions, camps, ceremonies, and even rallies.
It hosted several events such as WWE's Saturday Night's Main Event and Royal Rumble. Alongside which are UFC events such as the UFC Fight Nights.
In 2011, the USF Board of Trustees has released a renovation fund for its restoration and improvement which were completed in April 2012.
