The Juice Box, officially known as Minute Maid Park, is home to the Houston Astros Major League Baseball team. Since 2000 it has been providing baseball fans a venue with a much needed retracting roof that could provide both protection and open air, as weather dictates, as opposed to the perpetually indoor Astrodome that, while impressive, cost the crowds some of the sunlit joys so inherent to America’s pastime. As another nod to the heritage of the game, this venue has a field of real grass. This is one more way that both fans and players favor it over its predecessor which used AstroTurf. The 40,000 seat monument to genuine baseball glory has operated under many other names like Enron Field, The Ballpark at Union Station, and Astros Field, but it has always provided one of the most genuine game day experiences anywhere in the country. Other sports have enjoyed the atmosphere and facilities at this iconic venue. Football, soccer, and rugby of many different leagues and levels have taken the field here. It has also hosted concerts for big name performers like Madonna and Taylor Swift.
