A 14,800-seater, the DCU Center or more commonly known as The Centrum is an indoor arena and convention center complex is found at 50 Foster Street Worcester, Massachusetts. This facility is famous for hosting a long list of events such as concerts, family shows, trade shows, conventions, meetings, and sporting events.
Opened in 1982, the venue is originally named as Centrum in Worcester. During that time, the seating capacity of the structure was roughly 12,000 only. In 1989, the capacity was increased through the expansion of the building with the addition of the 300-level balconies. In 1997, its basic amenities and certain parts were renovated, and it was then renamed as Worcester's Centrum Centre. It was only in 2004 by which the building got its present-day name after Digital Federal Credit Union or DCU purchased the naming rights to it.
Since its completion, the building has been a home field to a number of sports teams including, the Worcester IceCats of AHL, The New England Surge of CIFL, the Massachusetts Marauders of AFL, and the Worcester Sharks of AHL. The arena also became the host of some of the most remarkable performances in the history of its region which include: Up in Smoke Tour, Tattoo the Earth, Live Phish, Sesame Street Live, The Wiggles, Smackdown, and many more.
